Daniel peered at the rather large building that stood before him. Or, rather, buildings. It was a private boarding school, after all, so it made sense that there would be at least two buildings for both the dorms and the school. He just hoped he wouldn't get them mixed up.
No Daniel, focus. This wasn't the time for a drifting mind. Now was the time for action. For being the thing he had dreamed of his entire life. A guide for the next generation, a leader for the future of tomorrow, a...
A teacher.
It didn't sound nearly as cool as he would've liked, but for the most part, he was completely fine with that. He didn't care, as long as he was helping children, especially... Especially children like he was. He had worked hard for this position, and he wasn't about to just let everyone down!
Another deep breath taken, another exhale released, and then he entered the double doors to where his future awaited him! Except, he didn't know where his office was. Dammit, Daniel! He should've done more research. In fact, had they even told him which office he was?
It didn't matter, there was a kind looking lady, sitting at her desk. She could help him, probably. Slowly, he made his way up to her, before beginning to speak, a soft British accent on his tongue. "Uh, excuse me Miss? I seem to be having trouble locating my office," he said a bit nervously. "Would you mind giving me some assistance?"

Veronica was sitting behind the front desk in the main office bored out of her skull. As always she'd made short work of the organization and filing tasks that were supposed to keep her busy between calls and helping people who came in leaving her with little to keep herself occupied with. She sat with her cheek resting against the palm of her hand, eyes half lidded as she tried to stave off the sleep that threatened to overtake her. Mornings just were never her thing.
When the door to the main office opened she sat up, almost as if snapping awake. She stifled a quick yawn and brushed a stray strand of brown hair from her face and presented the approaching teacher with a polite smile. Of course she knew him already. She'd been told once of a new hire that would be starting today and was handed off the task of getting him settled in. She nodded. "Mister Underhill?" She asked, even though she already knew the answer. She'd skimmed the new hire packet and caught a glance of the staff photo he'd taken. That was all it took for her to have memorized every line of his features.
"I'm Veronica." She stood up and rounded the front counter, pushing open the small, swinging door separating the back from the lobby. She extended a hand to him. "I'm on of the administrative assistants here. I'm supposed to give you a tour, show you to your office, and help you with anything you need to settle in."

As he entered, Daniel could see a lone woman sitting there, behind a desk in the middle of the room. A secretary? Most likely. He knew that assuming wasn't the best thing to do, but he felt safe in his assumption that she was, indeed, a secretary, as he ran a nervous hand through his hair. When was the last time he had gotten a haircut? He was probably due for one soon, anyways.
"Oh, huh?"
Dammit, he had been so engrossed in his own thoughts, that he hadn't even noticed that the woman had spoken to him. Then, it came to him what she had said, and he gave a swift nod. "Yes, that's me," he said with a soft smile. "You can call me Daniel, Miss...?"
He waited until she said her name to speak again. "Veronica, yes. I think I heard about you in the letter I received, telling me of this place. Miss Abbot, I assume? It's a pleasure to meet you," he continued, straightening his jacket absentmindedly, and holding out a hand for the other to shake. "I don't think I'll need any more help than you're sure to give me, I'm sure. I greatly appreciate your assistance, though."
"That's me." Veronica confirmed with a faint nod. Politeness wasn't something Veronica was used to seeing in the workplace. Up until fairly recently she'd bounced around and usually ended up stuck in some dead end job with assholes for customers, co-workers or bosses. She smiled, the mild (yet pleasant) surprise at Daniel's response shining in her dark brown eyes. "I think you're overestimating how helpful I can be." She replied with a soft laugh. "I just started a week ago so there are only so many questions I can answer."
"Anyway." Veronica figured the new teacher would want to get started and not stand around making idle chit-chat with the administrative assistant he'd probably only see whenever she had to hand off his mail. She gestured toward the doors that lead further into the Academy office building. "Your office is right this way." She started for it. "I figured you could drop anything you had off there and then I'll show you around campus?" She offered, glancing toward Daniel curiously.

"Well, I'm glad I found the right person," he said, unintentionally looking her over. She was interesting, seemed trustworthy, but that would have to wait. Right now, he was going to be given a tour, and he didn't want to miss anything. "I'm sure you'll be helpful enough," he continued, a warm smile on his face. "If there's anything you don't know, feel free to ask someone else. I won't hold it against you."
With that, they began heading off, Daniel trailing behind her to see the sights of the school. "Marvelous," he'd say as he passed under amazing arches and looked up at high ceilings. This place must've been pretty old, because the architecture here was... It was beautiful. He quite enjoyed it, but was ripped from his thoughts as the woman in front of him, Veronica, spoke. "O-oh? Oh, right. That makes sense," he said, scraping the back of his neck. "Indeed it does..."
Truth be told, he hadn't brought much stuff, and right now, he was only carrying a suitcase full of clothing he'd need, and that was about it. He didn't need anything else, didn't own anything of intrinsic value. "If possible, would it be alright to make a stop at the dorm I'll be in, before progressing any further? I'd very much appreciate it if I could put my bag away."
