Juliet Veronica Abbot
FACE CLAIM: Emmy Rossum
♦ THE BASICS ♦
AGE: 30
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
POSITION: Administrative assistant - Bellefonte Academy♦ THE ABILITY ♦
POWER: Hyper Awareness and Eidetic Memory
Veronica has displayed a remarkable adeptness for picking up and retaining even the most minute of details. It takes mere moments for Veronica to be able to sweep a given scene and decipher minutiae that would escape most normal senses. The awareness extends to the entire scope of Veronica's sensory perceptions. With a few moments of concentration she can memorize nearly every tiny detail of a given scene, subject, picture or even text.
As a parallel, Veronica is capable of recalling said details even under the most stressful of situations. her recall and perception combine to make reading and comprehending textbooks painfully simple, as well as spotting minor ticks and cues in a person's demeanor. The power is never fully off and doesn't require 'activation' of any sort, though concentrating upon a given subject will enhance her perception and future recall.
LIMITATIONS:
- While at times it may seem as though Veronica possesses a sort of extra sensory perception, Veronica cannot sense anything outside the realm of a normal human. It's the level of perception and retention of the tiny details that are the focus of her power.
- Truly small or minute details may take time as well as concentration in order to recall. Often she has to 'relive' or go through events as they happened in order to pick out such things.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
- Since the power is never fully 'off' Veronica has a habit of losing focus very quickly and often has trouble paying attention to one thing at a time.
-Veronica has chronic hypotension, or low blood pressure. she takes medication in order to combat the condition but is still prone to side effects that include light headedness, cold or clammy skin, loss of feeling in her extremities, discoloration of her fingertips and lips, fatigue and extreme thirst.
- Due to the rapid way in which Veronica's mind processes and retains information she suffers from insomnia and has a great deal of trouble sleeping without the use of medication (or alcohol). she fears growing addicted to such medication, thereby resulting in her reluctance to use them and simply opts to deal with her condition (or drink heavily).♦ THE CHARACTER ♦
HEIGHT: 5'8"
HAIR COLOR: Brown
EYE COLOR: Brown
MISC: Has gone by her middle name, Veronica, since moving to the States at the age of 18.
PERSONALITY:Don't believe in loveDon't believe in hateDon't believe in anythingThat you can't waste
Veronica has lived her entire life never quite feeling like she fit in. It wasn't due to her family or background, rather an innate itch that she could never quite scratch. This has resulted in her becoming a bit of a wayward soul with difficulties focusing on anything for any constructive length of time. She's a wanderer not by choice, rather out of necessity as she's prone to bouts of restlessness and cabin fever with little provocation. Because of this she never finished college, held a job for longer than a couple years or managed to find a long-term relationship.
Due to the nature of her power Veronica is incredibly intelligent and analytical, though these are traits she often hides through the 'dumbing down' of her vocabulary and by refraining from expressing knowledge of a given subject even if asked about it directly. Although she'll never admit it, Veronica does this to prevent anyone she meets from having any sort of positive expectations of her. She's acutely aware of her faults and believes it best if no one ever tries to rely on her for anything.
In spite of her failings Veronica can be something of a breath of fresh air. She's spontaneous and energetic at times and cares very little of what anyone thinks, as she always assumes she won't be in any one place long enough for it to matter. She very much lives in the moment because thinking too much about the lost opportunities of the past or the poor potential of the future can be terribly depressing.
SECRET(S): Yes, she has a tattoo. No, you can't see it.♦ THE HISTORY ♦When I grow upI'll be stable
Juliet Abbot was born to a prominent family from Oxford, England. Although her life should have been relatively simple and straightforward. Her childhood should have been filled with many happy moments growing up with her loving, nurturing parents and the two sisters she should have been close to. Instead there was always something within Veronica that prevented her from being able to settle into her life.
From a young age she was always curious and wanted to explore. On many occasions the police were called because a young Veronica (known by her first name, Juliet then) had wandered off, distracted by a particularly interesting scrap of paper drifting in the wind or a fancily colored bird and found herself lost.
Veronica's mutant ability came later than most. The subtle nature of her power and slow manner in which if came to fruition didn't lead to her relocation to St. Bethany's until she was already 16 years old. By then she was already locked in the throes of a restless discontent that had resulted in a disconnect of sorts between herself and her family. It was almost a welcome relief to all when she moved to the Academy though the internal peace didn't last long.
From the first day she'd stepped onto the St. Bethany campus Veronica had petitioned for transfer to Bellefonte in the United States. She had no real reason other than she wanted an excuse to get away from the norm and experience something different. That wish was finally granted before her senior year of high school, a mere year after she'd first come to St. Bethany's.
Veronica didn't find the solace and peace she hoped her new home would provide. Rather the expanse of the country only stirred her wanderlust even further. Upon graduation she left Montana to attend college in Michigan only to drop out after two semesters to move to Florida for no apparent reason. This set off a chain reaction of Veronica uprooting every couple years or so with little to no plan of what she'd do in her new city once she got there.
She's spent time in Atlanta, New York, Boston and Washington DC, among others, before finally settling in San Francisco, California where she stayed for four years, the longest time she'd lived anywhere since growing up in Oxford. At first San Francisco seemed everything Veronica had wanted. Despite being in her late 20's she had returned to college and even found herself in a stable, healthy relationship with a successful entrepreneur from the Bay Area. For a fleeting moment she truly felt she was finally able to find direction and stability in her life. That all changed on her 30th birthday when she promptly moved out of the home she shared with her then boyfriend and moved to Kalispell, Montana.
In truth, Veronica had been planning a move for longer than she'd care to admit. For the first time in her life she had something of a plan. After passively weighing her options, Veronica chose to accept an entry level position in the administrative office of Bellefonte Academy where her sisters lived. She didn't know what she expected to find upon her arrival in Kalispell as the years had seen her be less than consistent in her efforts to keep in touch with her younger siblings. Regardless it was another move she needed to make. What would come of her sudden relocation remained to be seen.♦ THE PLAYER ♦
