Bo knew Bell Connelly more through email and mutual connection than anything else. They'd associated a few times throughout his time here and all, since they were often the two most eager to volunteer to help out with something, particularly if that something involved baking. Case in point: Bo had volunteered to help get some cookies and stuff baked up for a few of the parties that were going to be hitting the school soon, and he knew that Bell would be right there.
But why, you may ask, is a gay man so interested in getting on Bell's good side? Well, besides the fact that she was just an enjoyable person to have around, there was a wholly different reason: Bo intended to see if he couldn't set up Bell with his brother, Rhett. He just knew they'd work out well, and he figured he'd get right on it before the whole ball/dance thing.
Now, he just had to act the most like a gay best friend he could. Bo took a deep breath, nodding to himself as he mussed his hair. "Right, gotta get ready," he shifted, adjusting his jeans and smoothing down his best t-shirt. With a nod, Bo turned just as Bell entered, throwing his arms wide. "Bell! Awesome ta see you. Lovin' the sweater," he himself did consider putting on something Christmas-y, and he did have elf-ears, so that was something. "How ya been? Lookin' forward to the holidays?"

Once the cook with a rather unfortunate first name invited Bell to help him, back you could almost hear the variable squeals of delight from her apartment to the kitchen. Bell’s great fault in life was her willing to help out to the point of being nothing short of being ever so overbearing. She liked to help people and feel needed in her life...because despite her several attempts to make it not so...She felt almost a disconnect between herself and the rest of the staff, she doesn’t know how of course. But people like Ella and Asli didn’t seem to be warming to her as well as she liked but she hoped that this new development would be just what she needed to expand her social circle….Outside her cats….
...And while she enjoyed the company of her three cats they did get needy…
Plus there was baking involved and while Bell really wasn’t what you would call an expert baker, she either burned everything she baked or they came out just right. But she had a passion for all things sweet, she could only hope that any serious blunders would be recoverable…
...Or if she burned the entire school down.
She strolled into the kitchen with a bright almost bashful grin on her face a such a warm welcome tilting her feet daintily pleased at the compliment and leaning her arms out to display her sweater out more prominently, even by her standards a Bright blue and white cardigan with a large depiction of Rudolf The Red Nose reindeer “Oh thank you! Isn’t it cute?” She nodded admiring it herself. “I got it off amazon, only five dollars. Oh but that’s not even the best part!” Bell took a moment to reach for the button on her sleeve which activated the fairy lights embedded into her jumper centred around Rudolf's nose. Bell giggled to herself impressed with her own terrible sense of fashion “Isn’t that fun? I was thinking of wearing it to prom”
She stepped forward again keenly examining the surroundings of the kitchen “Oh yeah I always look forward to the hoildays of course I can’t make it home this year….Dad is sick...so I’m hoping I can get some kids into the spirit
"Super cute," Bo replied, feeling less like that was the reality and more like that was what he should be saying right now. To his credit, he managed to do so with a straight face. The lights actually made him grin: it looked just perfect, and Bell's raw joy at the whole ensemble was pretty damn infectious on top of it. He had to chuckle at the prom comment, but he wasn't about to say anything: he wasn't sure if she was kidding or not.
Bo nodded at the last comment. "Yeah, I kinda like helpin' the kids an' all," he admitted. "Rhett, that would be my straight brother, an' I can't 'xactly head home anymore. Some," he bobbed his head, "friction an' all,' in that Bo's family had disowned him and Rhett had decided to actually acknowledge that yes, he had a gay brother instead of pretending like Bo had mysteriously died of sin.
"Now," he nodded, 'I'm thinkin' we can do some basic sugar, probly some snicker-doodles, an' maybe some white chocolate macademia? Unless you were thinkin' of goin' crazy an' doin' somethin' with peppermint or somethin'," Bo shrugged. He had the stuff on hand, but the more adventurous cookies weren't always hits with the people they were giving them too. He'd found it better to just stick with the "safe" options, at least for stuff like this.

Bell cooed just a little bit wrinkling her nose clearly delighted that the cook did enjoy her colourful attire. No one can ever accuse Bell of not being an overly kind and considering and generally warm person….but she might have the single worse fashion sense in the history of Bellefonte Academy and she count herself lucky that she was a fully grown adult because if she was still a student she’d be stuffed into a locker so damn fast it would make her head spin around her shoulder, she clearly had a massive blind spot when it came to fashion but everyone seemed to be far too kind to ever truly point it out to her.
And maybe it was best that the question if Bell was joking or not left unanswered.
The english teacher in her couldn’t help but to internally wince at Bo’s wording and she wouldn’t lie and say that there was a part of her, that didn’t want to correct him “”I enjoy helping the kids” Bell’s pet peeve was the word “Kinda’” or “sorta” but of course she didn’t Bell just didn’t have the heart to even being to do something like that to Bo, and of course she didn’t jump on his toubled history he probably didn’t want to relive that “Oh I agree, The simpler the better or at least when it comes to food..But how are you doing Bo? How are you and your brother?”
"Sounds like a plan," Bo said, nodding. He'd already gotten some of the ingredients out and all, having half expected the sugar cookies, at the least, to have been part of the selection. Really, Bo just wanted an excuse to use some of the large-sized kitchen equipment he had on hand. The bowl for mixing the batter could hold some of the smaller students inside it (and Bo had found some there hiding from time to time).
He was already counting eggs by the dozen while considering Bell's question. "I'm doin' alright," Bo said, nodding. "Got a lot on the plate with the holidays an' all. Try to do my damndest to amp up the volunteerin' an' all, particularly gettin' the kids involved," Bo nodded again, before going back for another dozen eggs or so. "An' the Jones boys are doin' alright, all things considered. We ain't gonna be headin' back home, but we'll probably have a good enough time with jus' the two of us an' all. Probly hit up the school celebration."
The school did have something put together for the students that couldn't head home for whatever reason. Bo had been attending nearly since he'd arrived after all. He set the ingredients down, considering. "I think that's enough to get started. Should throw some kinda decoratin' party," Bo scratched at his scruff, looking over it all again. "Guess that's kinda your sorta thing, ain't it?" he shot Bell another smile, knowing full well that if there was such a thing, she was likely to be the driving force behind it.
