Friday gulped as she raised her arm to knock on the door. She lowered it just before the actual knocking part would begin. Then she raised it again. Then she lowered it again, because of course she did. She shifted her feet, staring at the door.
"Okay, so, there's this thing,' she mumbled to herself, "like, this thing about... stealing. An incident. The thing is an incident. And in this incident, someone's... stolen... something," Friday flushed and nibbled her lip just remembering the devastation that was the girl's dorm room. Apparently the girl was out right now, and someone had volunteered Friday to go and report on it. Naturally Friday had agreed before realizing that there just might have been something going on that she... didn't know quite how to word.
"Underwear stealing," Friday mumbled. Why would someone even do something like that? "Somebody stole some underwear," she mumbled again, not quite believing it again. She swallowed, raised her hand to knock, and felt someone tapping her shoulder.
Some strange noise left Friday then. Next came the flailing. at some point, her hands ended up on the door and she was staring up at someone. "Uh..." was all she could manage at the moment, which considering this was Friday, was saying something.

Maybe another secret Brianna should’ve added to her list was the fact she occasionally snuck off to the kitchen to take some snacks back to her room. They were only little things so surely the kitchen staff wouldn’t miss them right? Besides, it wasn’t as if Brianna did it every night. Only when she had the shameless urge to binge watch some shows, which definitely didn’t happen often.
Yes, she was very much an adult.
As it was, all she really took were a few leftover cookies and some brownies. She only went after the leftovers since they were harder to track and were generally unwanted in the first place. As she was heading back to the security staff lounge to put the tv in there to “good” use, she spotted someone standing outside. With a brownie already in her mouth, it was impossible for her to actually call out anything to the girl just yet. So Brianna approached her while rapidly eating her treat so she wouldn’t look like a complete idiot and could actually speak.
Fortunately she swallowed just before she reached up to tap the girl on the shoulder. The reaction she got was sporadic to say the least. Brianna took at least two steps back to avoid the flailing hands from knocking any of her well earned (stolen) food to the ground. “Whoa there! Were you looking for someone from security?” She asked with a little bit of concern. Why else would a student willingly be there?

Ok, so this lady looked like she could really kick ass and probably take names or chew bubblegum or whatever else was supposed to be involved in all that. Friday spent a few seconds just looking up at her and feeling very intimidated and small and suddenly a little scrawny (that last didn't make a whole lot of sense to Friday, but she really wasn't thinking clearly).
"Yeeeessss?" Friday said, somehow twisting the word and turning it into a question. She smiled a tight smile, took a deep breath, and let it out slowly. 'I mean, yes. Yes I am. Looking for you. I mean, looking for security. Because someone's stealing underwear," Friday flushed and waved her hands, "not my underwear! And I didn't--someone's..." Friday swallowed and lowered her arms, "there's underwear missing. And, uh, evidence of a break-in."

So there was some staring, and some more staring, and even more until Brianna was about to say something. However finally the girl spoke up and Brianna shut her mouth again. This one had been looking for Brianna, meaning she’d been looking for security. There was underwear missing and evidence of a break in. Though the girl’s somewhat wild posturing was fun to watch, Brianna’s attention had been captured.
Of course there would be a panty raid.
Brianna took a second to sigh before nodding. “I’ll come with you to go take a look. But first I think I might want to put these down.” She indicated her procured goodies by lifting them a little before sliding around Friday to open the door. No one else was inside since it was later and the security staff that was supposed to be up would likely be patrolling at this hour. The rest were probably asleep. Which meant the entire lounge was left to Brianna to use how she wanted, which would totally be used for legitimate reasons.
“Want one?” She thought to offer to the other girl while setting her treats down on a table. She’d bring one cookie to eat on the way over, and another if they girl wanted it (or she’d eat it if the girl didn’t). After that she shut the door to the lounge once more. “So can you lead the way and tell me exactly when you think this happened? Did you only find out now?” It was time to get at least moderately serious.

Friday bobbed her head, more than a little relieved that the other woman was accepting of the prattle and all. Friday saw the goodies, "Oh, yeah, totally," she stepped aside, waiting while Brianna went in the door. The teen followed, but stopped at the doorway, not wanting to come inside or anything for fear of breaking some sort of rule she either didn't know about or just knew about or something along those lines.
"What? Oh, yeah, totally," Friday said, head bobbing. "Those do look pretty good and all," she still didn't want to go in, but the older woman was already coming out. Friday reached up and took it, nibbling it a bit. The treat did taste fairly good and all, and doing something as simple as eating was helping calm Friday's nerves. Plus, either the woman hadn't heard the blurted out nonsense or was tactfully ignoring it; either way worked for Friday.
"We found out pretty recently," she explained, at first following along and soon moving ahead to take the lead. "It looks like it happened pretty soon too. like, the girl in question is one of my roommates, and, like, we were all out just a few minutes ago and, like, they came and did the stuff," Friday nodded again. "It's... kinda creepy," her nose wrinkled and she nearly shivered.

Instead of stepping in Friday waited by the door, which was honestly probably a good thing. The other security members didn’t really like any of the students coming inside their lounge. While Brianna might’ve been one of the easiest going of the bunch, there were still some things she would uphold too. So instead she handed off the cookie when she came back out. It looked as if it calmed the student down too, which was a definitely bonus.
Cute as the rambling might be, it was a little hard to follow.
Together they headed out while munching away on chocolate chip. The other girl explained what had happened, and Brianna felt her brow furrow a little as she went. “That’s definitely creepy. Don’t worry, we’ll find whoever did it. We might need to wait until tomorrow when someone with a better ability to track could help, but I’ll see what I can do.” With that she smiled (hopefully reassuring) at Friday. Which of course brought up another question.
“Oh, what’s your name by the way? I don’t think it’ll be handy referring to you as ‘student 1’ or something.” She joked lightly.

Friday's head bobbed again as the security person continued. "Yeah, that totally makes sense. I just wanted to get someone on it when the trail's, like, fresh, y'know?" Friday shrugged, not sure how else to put it, though she was fairly certain there had to be a better way than how she'd just managed .She took another nibbled bite of the cookie, resisting this strange urge to slow down and walk a little slower.
"I've been called worse," Friday offered, adding another shrug. "But Friday's my actual name. For real, that's not, like, a fake name I'm trying to give or something. I'm Friday Morning," Friday took another bite, before reaching to brush aside crumbs and essentially smearing chocolate along the side of her mouth. "Like I said, it's in my dorm, uh, Room 204. Girls' dorm. So maybe a girl did it?"
Friday flushed at that, not wanting to think about what sort of girl would do that but somehow having no difficulties managing exactly that.

”That definitely makes sense. If we’re really lucky, then someone did something stupid and I can find a student id or a cellphone.” She responded with a nod. While Friday was delicately nibbling her cookie, Brianna had already finished 2/3rds of hers. She had more back in the lounge, so what did she care if she ate fast? The only bad thing was that she wouldn’t be able to eat the others while investigating.
Brianna actually had to turn her head. “Friday Morning?” She repeated with a bit of surprise. What was it with people and naming their kids oddly? Brianna didn’t want to be mean though since this girl seemed okay. “It’s unique.” Brianna would give her that. “But you’re the only Friday I’ve met, and I’m sure it’s the same for lots of other people. So I guess that means you don’t need to share it with anyone else.” Maybe what she’d said hadn’t made sense, but it was the best she had.
“It’s possible.” Brianna gave with a shrug. Although most involved in these raids, that she had experienced, involved a bunch of boys. This was the all girl’s dorm, so it was a prime target. Wouldn’t that make it just as likely for girls to get a chance though? It would certainly be less expected in Brianna’s opinion. She shook her head to clear her thoughts and regarded the girl leading her. “Girl’s dorm though? How are you liking it so far?" Small talk would probably be good until they got there.

Friday nodded. "Yeah, we didn't, like, see any immediate evidence, but that doesn't mean there isn't anything there." Friday paused to consider. "It's a shame my power doesn't actually let me read memories or anything. Because that would be super helpful about now," to say the least. Friday was already internally wincing. Then again, sometimes her power came in more handy than regular psychometry would, so she supposed there was no point in worrying about it.
It was like with her name: part of her. Friday nodded along, agreeing with both her own self-assessment and Brianna's question. "Well, I'm pretty unique," she said, flashing a smile. "We all are, when you get down to it," she took another nibble, her thoughts drifting to culprits even as her feet took her further up into the dorms. They were moving up the stairs now, and it would only be a matter of time until they saw the scene of the crime.
"So far it's been pretty good," Friday offered. "It's nice being around other mutants and all. We're all going through the same stuff. Kalispell in general's pretty nice. I mean," Friday shrugged, "this is a bad incident, but it's not, like, normal," Friday pulled to a stop at the dorm hall. One of her roommates was already standing there, looking at Brianna and Friday, clearly a little startled and more scared than angry. Friday tried a reassuring smile and gestured toward Brianna: the cavalry come to save the day.

Brianna nodded as she finished off the last pieces of her cookie. “That definitely would. Although, then again, I’m not sure what memories you’d get from a situation like this considering what kind of ‘evidence’ you’d have to handle.” There would definitely come consequences with a power that could tell you the memories of objects. Particularly in a panty raid when most of the evidence would probably be panties.
They were all unique. Brianna let out a soft laugh at that. “We really are, aren’t we?” She responded with a smile. To the rest of the world they certainly were, but in the academy itself? They got to feel “normal” for a while. Sure, it was as “normal” as children wielding fire and manipulating emotions could get, but Brianna was willing to take whatever small victories she could.
“I’m glad this isn’t coloring everything for you then, and that you like it.” Brianna replied sincerely. It was a good thing to her that the students were enjoying their time at the school. The whole process of figuring out one was a mutant could be pretty scary. Finding comfort in whatever you could was important for sanity’s sake.
Once they reached the dorm and Brianna saw the girl, she knew she had to get into serious mode. Taking a deep breath, she gave the frightened girl a warm smile and a nod. “I’m going to help you as much as I can. Can you show me where you thought someone had broken in? That and which rooms were touched, in case the intruders dropped anything around the area."

Friday took a few seconds to process what Brianna said regarding evidence. As she did, she realized just what that meant and pulled a disgusted face. "Ewwwww," came out soon after, along with a shudder. She really, really didn't want to think about what all would be entailed.
That didn't stop her enthusiasm or optimism. The disgust just got replaced with smiles and nods. "Exactly! It's just like with real people, only some of us can, like, bend spoons with our mind and junk," more cookie nibbling, of course, the actual arrival at the scene of the crime. The roommate seemed to be doing a little better now that Brianna was there. Friday put an arm around the girl to comfort her, and they both led Brianna further into the room.
It was rather obvious that someone had been in the roommate's room. Drawers had been yanked half open with their contents tossed about. Shirts and pajamas and the like lined the room, along with a few mixed other items. The roommate took the lead, showing this to Brianna and Friday (who had at least seen it before, but seeing it again still made her shudder).
"We, uh, didn't look anywhere else yet," Friday admitted, flushing. "We kinda wanted to get some help first..."

Brianna openly laughed at Friday’s response once she understood what the older girl had been implying. It was really funny to see the reaction, and honestly it made the mood a little less tense. Once Brianna would have to do her job, she’d be in a more professional mindset no doubt, so the bit of levity beforehand was nice.
Brianna smiled and nodded along with what Friday was saying, but then they got to the actual dorm. Fortunately Friday’s friend seemed to do a little better with Brianna there, and with an arm from Friday they headed inside.
It was a mess.
Brianna silently surveyed the room, a frown forming on her face while she took in the damage. It was painfully obvious someone had been rifling through this girl’s stuff, and this was only one room. They could have gotten to the others too. Carefully Brianna walked through it and tried her best not to disturb the clutter. “No, that’s perfectly reasonable and smart for you to have done.” Brianna replied while crouching down to observe the items on the floor.
She really hadn’t expected to do anything like this tonight, but she’d do her best to truly help.
“Friday could you please go check the door to see if it was forced or anything? If they came in through the front I might be able to catch them with the cameras.” Brianna directed at Friday. Then she turned to address the other girl. “And miss, could you please look through everything that’s scattered and see if anything doesn’t belong to you? That could be used for tracking, but I'm not familiar with your things."

At least they'd done the whole reporting thing right. Friday heaved a slight sigh of relief, before walking over and laying a gentle hand on her roommate's shoulder. She gave it a slight reassuring squeeze, and her roommate did offer a thankful smile before looking back to the search.
"What? Oh yeah, totally," Friday agreed. She turned back to look at the door, staring at it for a few seconds to try and find something. She could hear her roommate behind her working through the stuff, though the other girl was already saying that she didn't see anything unusual and that it all looked like her stuff. Friday licked her lips for a moment, before raising her hands to the door.
And then prompted walked into it.
"Um," Friday pushed away for a moment, studying it. She set a hand on it again, and felt that same urge to walk straight into the door. "So, uh," she looked back at Brianna, "I think someone maybe walked... through the door? Maybe?"
Post by Brianna Keegan on Nov 16, 2016 4:20:38 GMT
Brianna flashed Friday a thankful smile while she went to work with the other girl observing things. The more they looked through it, the more Friday’s roommate confirmed that everything she saw was something she recognized as hers.
The little thump of Friday hitting the door drew Brianna’s attention away though.
Brianna blinked as she watched Friday yet again try to walk through the door and hit it instead. She almost wanted to ask what she was doing, but then she remembered what Friday had said about her power. It had something to do with memories, right? Maybe it made her act them out instead of read them. At least, Brianna was much more willing to believe that then the option that Friday might be randomly walking into a door.
“If that’s the case then we can really narrow down our search through looking at phasing powers.” Brianna mused with the hint of a smirk. If Friday was right, then they’d found a major clue into discovering who’d done this. “Combining it with the camera feed might give us exactly who did this.” With that she stood up and faced the two. “Now, were any of the other rooms touched? Otherwise I’m going to head back and filter through the camera real quick."

Friday managed a confident smile, glad that her power had helped with this awful predicament and all. They'd found something that would at least narrow down the suspects and all. "They could've borrowed the power too if, like, that's their power," Friday pointed out. There weren't any copying mutants that Friday knew of, but that mean they didn't exist; she was fairly certain she'd at least heard of them.
"Oh, right, other rooms," Friday said. She nodded, then cautiously went to look at first Tallulah's (another roommate) room. "This looks clear!" It was also the one furthest from the scene of the crime. The next room, currently empty, wouldn't even really need to be checked. Oh, no, it was the last room, Friday's. She gently pushed open the door, took a peek, and then pulled back.
"Um, I don't know that I want to check?" she said, flashing Brianna an apologetic smile. "It's, uh, it's..." she flushed, bringing her hands up to touch fingers, "my room."
