"Shit," spat Bo, kicking his ATV. he pulled back from it, wiping some of the mud from his face and staring down the machine as if it could actually see or hear him acting. The damn thing had been working fine all the way out into the woods outside of Kalispell. He hadn't wanted to get too close to the school and all, plus there were some really good areas to plow around in the backcountry. Bo supposed he should be somewhat thankful that it had been on his way back.
"Knew I shoulda headed out with the truck," he muttered, rubbing at his face again. Grunting, Bo dropped down to one knee and studied the vehicle. It looked more than stuck. Stuck, Bo could deal with. He figured he should try this anyway, reaching down to get a grip around the vehicle. The cook took a deep breath, grunted, and felt his power starting to leak in a little. Sure enough, he could lift it up, but he couldn't reach the steering column to get it pointed where he needed it to go.
So all Bo could do was set it back down. Grumbling, he wiped at his face again. "An' me without my damn phone too,' he mumbled, before giving the device another kick. Guess he'd just have to wait for someone helpful to come along.
So the one thing Pandora had to admit she enjoyed more then almost anything else besides working in her greenhouse, was exploring nature and dong so she really loved taking out her four wheeler. It was a pain to get it to the school but she managed, since her family sent it with her truck. She got the truck as a gift for her sixteenth birthday nothing fancy it was a old Chevy 4x4 with a nice lift and good tires and it ran perfectly for her. But she preferred taking her atv out way more since it fit into smaller area's.
She had been gone for most of the day hitting random trails, and exploring all over the place, as well as taking in nature itself. But as the day progressed she started getting cold, and well being wet and dirty was not helping that fact. On her way back she managed to spot some one standing by a atv as well, it looked stuck from where she could see. As she got closer she stopped a bit away from him so not have any issues herself. He seemed a bit stressed as well.
She turned hers off and got down and began to make her way towards him she was not generally one to be social but decided to be polite and ask if he needed any help. After all it was getting a little cold and she would not want to be stuck out here by herself and figured he most likely did not as well.As she got closer to him she took notice that he was a bit older by a few years at least she guessed he was a college student. At least age wise he was, she did not recognize him though but then again she did not really notice people to often.
"Sorry.. hope not to bother you but do you need help?"
She spoke softly but loud enough so he could hear her, she was pretty close now about five foot away or so. Her face had mud on it and her clothes where rather dirty as well, so it seemed like the two of them had been doing the same thing. She had not actually seen to many people out here riding before now, so it was also kind of nice to see some one who rode as well.
At first, Bo wasn't sure he'd heard something. He could've sworn it was his imagination playing with his hope or something along those lines. It took a few seconds to realize that yes, there was a person there. He turned to look up at her, a smile spreading slowly on his face. "Howdy," he said, nodding and giving her a little wave of his hand. "Not that I don't appreciate the offer, but figured I should start with that."
He gave the vehicle another nod. "Seems like the thing got stuck. I can lift it," he paused, looking over at the girl and hesitating. It may have just been outside of Kalispell, but Bo knew they were supposed to be at least a little cautious around just revealing their mutant abilities and all. "I'm stronger than I look. Part of my job," he offered, which had enough truth embedded in it to work. He nodded and then gestured.
"I can lift the dang thing up, but I can't get it steered right or anythin' that'd be helpful. Heck," he studied the girl quickly, "I could probly lift it an' you; jus' can't twist my arm around."
She let out a soft giggle at his behavior. She was rather confused by people and the way they acted, but she was not going to judge him even if he seemed a bit strange, nice enough though. She watched as he lifted the ATV so he was pretty strong, she was not sure if he was gifted like the students at school or not, she guessed maybe but they where supposed to keep that kind of hush, so she was not going to say anything about the fact he was lifting something way to easily.
"Oh um.. i could do that if you want.. or could try and pull it out with mine? Either way is fine.. I just saw you while i was headed back to school and felt like it would be nice to offer you some aid.. since its getting kinda cold.."
Okay that was a bit long winded and he did not really need all that extra information but hey at least she was actually being somewhat social and not just giving simple gestures, she did have a bad habit of doing that at time. She looked around her and noticed the ground was a bit soft, but she could surely get her atv through it with ease, if pulling his out made it easier, then again would be bad if they got both stuck. She could always use her power to help but that was only if it was just her. And she had no clue even who this guy was... which made her realize she never even introduced herself.
"Oh.. Im Pandora nice to meet you... sorry i should have mentioned that earlier my bad sorry .."
She extended a hand towards him to be polite, and this was one of those things she was weird about because she always felt rather small when next to other people, herself being way below average when it came to size made her always feel tiny next to others.
Bo considered the girl's vehicle versus his own, taking a step back to judge them. For some reason, he'd been so wrapped up in his original plan of lifting the machine out that he hadn't stopped to think about the possibility of using another machine. He was doing the quick mental math and half-listening as the girl kept right on going, eventually chuckling at the mention of the weather.
"Yeah, but I've lived here long enough to get used to it," he offered, waving off the comment. He tapped his machine with his foot, getting ready to start talking it through. Instead he found a hand extended and manner kicked in. Bo took it with a firm, yet not squeezing, grip, nodding as he shook the hand. "Names Bo," he said. "An' I shoulda been doin' the introducin'. Jus' got wrapped up in all this."
He gestured toward the ATV, grinning as he did. After all, the situation was almost ridiculous and well worth grinning about.
She chuckled a bit well he was rather polite at least, and he seemed to be a pretty relaxed person. She wondered though what school he went to, but was not sure she should ask. She had been at Bellefonte for a while now and honestly did not actually recognize him but then again she really never paid attention. Well what could it hurt right? Might as well ask.
"Ah so you must go to school around here then? I go to Bellefonte myself, But only been here for a few years.. plus size dont help the matter I tend to get cold easy.."
She tried keeping it short and to the point this time at least. She hated when she rambled on, it made her feel like she was acting like a child, granted she did look like one but she was after all not as young as many though.
His shake was firm and he seemed kinda like a country boy by the way he spoke and his gestures. She was not surprised to see someone like him around but at the same time was still shocked how she never ran into him before now since they both seemed to come ride.
"It is nice to meet you, lets get this thing outa the mud though. Ill try and pull it out first if you want? Dont want you straining your back or something.."
"Oh, so you go to Bellefonte too?" Bo said, arching his brows. He nodded as he released her hand. "That'll make explainin' this a bit easier than," he paused for a moment though, mostly because there were still pleasantries to get through and, again, Bo couldn't get over his manners even if he tried. Soon enough he was considering.
"I wouldn't worry none 'bout my back," he offered, shrugging. "Kinda got a power that'll give me strength an' all,' he scratched at his stubble, trying to figure out if there was an easy way to explain his power. He was tempted to just avoid it and try to get the machine out of there anyway. Why waste the power when they could just do this natural way? Plus, it might save him from any potential side effects, even if Bo didn't figure there would be much.
"But yeah," he said, nodding, "we'll do it yer way. I think I got some chains," he started digging around, coming out with some metal links that were about as muddy as he was, "you wanna get yer end together while I work on mine?" he asked, offering the chains to Pandora as he did.
She smiled and nodded her head when he mentioned the school again. So she was right in guessing he was also like her in a sense. It made things easier at least nothing to hide or worry about, especially since her own power decided to randomly spring up at some rather awkward times, mostly when she was either really happy, or when angry. Luckily she was getting better with her control now though.
"I figured not many people lift ATV's like they are paper weights after all.. "
She smirked and then took the chain from him before walking over to her own ATV and linking the chain up to the rear end. She should be able to pull it out rather easily after all his ATV and her own where about the same size, and the mud did not seem to be all that bad.
"Let me know when you are ready Bo.. "
She hoped on and turned the key and pressed the start button then dropped it into 4x4 mode. She figured first gear would be enough to drag it out, if not then she would just put it into second, and well if it came down to it guess he would just have to push.
Bo chuckled, rubbing at the back of his neck. "Caught that, eh? It ain't quite that easy..." he knew he was trailing off there. Technically it was about he same for him, possibly less if he poured enough adrenaline into his system. As some put it, he could all but go superman. He grunted as he moved to move the chains, just thinking about his powers made him feel a bit nervous. He almost couldn't believe he'd been so willing to just go along and use them now.
He hooked the chain and gave it a few pulls to make sure it would stay before letting it drop. Nodding, Bo tapped the ATV a few times before turning to look to Pandora. "Pretty sure I got everythin' on my end," he said, before leaning down, adjusting the steering column and manually shifting a few gears.
"Whenever yer ready!" he called, muscles already bunching, though he was careful to fight against the urge to just let all the adrenaline he could muster pour into his body. Getting sick definitely wouldn't help with getting this thing going.
She offered a nod, he seemed stressed still which she could understand. But was glad she was actually able to help some one even if maybe they could have simply done it on their own, but she knew powers also had bad effects, and most likely his where pretty bad guessing on how they had to do with strength she could only imagine the strain it put on his own body physically.
Now tapping the gas she let the atv move forwards until she felt the tug on the chain and then gave it some more gas to pull it out from the mud, she seemed to have good enough traction and wasnt spinning. So getting it out should not be much of a issue at this point, slowly adding more gas she waited until the other atv moved forwards enough to no longer be stuck in the mud. Pulling it a good few feet from where it was she stopped and turned her own atv off and got off.
"Well its not stuck.. so the next question maybe would be to ask what is wrong with it?"
She guessed it had a mechanical issue but in truth she only knew a little about them, and was not all that handy, she could do basics like check the carburetor, and gas change oil and those types of things. Which she guessed was a okay amount since being a girl who most would see as a bit on the girly side normally knew nothing of those things.
"If you want I can try and pull you back to the school? Can at least have a better area to look it over at their? "
Bo pushed and jerked, managing to get the ATV out of the mud patch and more onto something resembling a road. He could feel the easy shifting then, and he waved for Pandora to stop, already bending down to try and give it a shot. he had some luck at least getting it to turn a little, but he was soon...
..finding a girl competing with him to figure out all the engine stuff. The homosexual southern boy who happened to be a cook paused and blinked at the girl, the "this is man's work" lingering just on the edge of his tongue about ready to be flipped off and tossed in her general direction. Bo's hesitation allowed him to see that Pandora at least had some clue what she was doing though, and he let his tongue hang back.
"Could be outta gas," he mumbled, doublechecking and tapping. He paused for a moment. He definitely didn't want to get towed all the way back; he'd rather get a ride and get his truck to come back. No need to wreck two ATVs after all. He tapped the vehicle for a few moments, considering.
"Yeah, let's get it somewhere we can get a better look," he said, looking around before nodding. "Looks like a bit of a pull off ahead there. Get it on the gravel an' all, and we should be able to get a better look at it," Bo was already moving to help push on his end, figuring it shouldn't be too much to get it just a few more feet down the road.
He seemed a bit shocked she knew something about vehicles. This made her giggle a little bit and grin at him, she was used to people always thinking girls where supposed to not know these things, especially girls who looked how she did, well maybe not right now since she was rather dirty. But still the thought made her kind of happy because she felt like she shocked some one which she rarely did.
"Don't look so shocked.. I might look all cute and girly but I did grow up in the country where I had to do these things on my own."
She smirked and then offered a nod to get his ride elsewhere he seemed a bit on the strange side but she actually was enjoying it, in a weird way. This was actually odd for her since her average interaction with people never lasted this long.
"Alright lets do this, once its fixed though you should get cleaned up pretty boy like you all dirty and all not a good look"
She had to tease a little which was even more odd for her.
"Ain't figurin' nothin',' Bo offered. "Jus' used to dainty things like you avoidin' stuff like this." He added a slight shrug and a self-deprecating smile. You could take the boy out of the country and all, but you couldn't completely take the country out of the boy. Even when the boy got as citified as Bo pretty much did.
He got into position, nodding as Pandora got into place herself. "Don't you worry none 'bout me. I'm more than used to gettin' dirty," he offered. "Kinda part of my job," he braced, and the moment Pandora started moving again, he'd be right there to push the vehicle along, getting it into position soon enough. There Bo did pause for a moment to look over the new position, pointing.
"You think you could take a look at the undercarriage if I left 'er up?" he asked, looking over at Pandora. He could jack it without using any of his powers, and could do even more if he had to...
She just kept silent she felt like bursting out laughing a bit but felt it would be rude. He seemed kind of funny but serious as well, very strange man. She was not overly bothered by his way of talking or his random gestures it was pretty funny and entertaining actually. She hoped on her own atv and began bringing him to a clearing. It was a older dirt road so was flat and it was not dark yet so seeing was not a issue.
She was a bit shocked when he asked if she would look it over for him. She really did not expect it in truth, she was not bothered though. Once they would arrive she would take a look and see if she could figure it out generally it was simple enough.
"Yeah I can take a look, its no issue... "
Once they arrived she turned her atv off and jumped off. The cold seemed to at least go away either that or she was getting used to it now. She walked towards him and stopped and looked over his atv. Popping the seat off she opened the housing to the air filter, she guessed that made the most sense first, and it was exactly what she though. Mud was clogging the filter and stopping the system from getting enough air to keep the gas ignited. She smiled a bit and pulled it off and cleaned it out before putting it back in place.
"What?" Bo asked as he saw Pandora's surprised look. "You were the one talkin' up your skills at all this jus' a few seconds ago. An' my manly pride jus' won't let you do the heavy liftin'," though Bo added a wink at the end of that. For all he knew, Pandora had a superstrength power that was even better than his, so he wasn't going to make any more assumptions here. He just wanted to get the machine moving and act as if this were as normal as they could manage.
in this case, that meant going to the back of the ATV, grabbing the rear, and waiting till Pandora was close. It was a quick count of three and then lift, Bo's muscles bunching as he pulled the machine up and off the ground. He could feel a little of his adrenaline leaking into his system, along with the near addiction to start using it. He fought it off, instead relying mostly on his own strength for as long as he could.
Pandora did seem to know what she was doing, and she came out soon enough. "Air filter?" Bo asked, nodding slightly. He gently set the machine down before heading to the front. The ATV sputtered a bit, but eventually started chugging to life. A bit of mud sloshed out from inside, but that didn't bother Bo, who was already whooping and thrusting his arm into the air. Soon Pandora would find a pair of arms wrapped around her, lifting her off the ground in a jubilant hug.
