“But if you don’t need regular sleep, why do you get... like this” he just waved towards him and his weirdness “Why don’t you try running until you get really tired and sleep when you get exhausted?” He suggested, not sure if it was helpful or not, he knew if it was him he would have already tried that ages ago.
“I’m sure there are so called villains out there, it’s just people don’t know about us, so why would anyone suspect that the crime wasn’t just a normal one? If I did something, nobody would think the thief just walked through the wall” He shrugged “The secrecy makes it easy to stay hidden for those who can control their stuff.”
He chuckled a bit “Oh thanks, make sure to be nice if you ever write an article on me and never mention my crimes, that works” He wouldn’t mind being written about, though mainly because he wanted to become good enough to maybe play soccer professionally one day, of course it was unlikely but it was a dream, the only real one he had anyway other than getting out of this school when he knew how to not fall through the floor each time he got angry.

Toby drew his arm over his head, pulling it to stretch, adding a slight grunt as he did. "Exhausted doesn't mean sleepy," he pointed out. "It just means I'd be laying on a couch regretting all the decisions that led me to that position. It takes drugs to knock me flat," Toby twisted again, before pushing himself half-upright, his back cracking all the while. "So, yeah, another reason to avoid exercise."
He rolled back and stretched upward, feeling everything crack and stretch. The guy kept going about villains and so forth in a way that did make Toby at least slightly nervous. He pulled the arm back down to cross over his body. "I'll do that," Toby said. "Though I'm leaning more toward podcasts or blogs than articles. It is the..." his brow furrowed, "the twenty first century? Or something like that. I'm not keeping too close of track."
Toby bent down again, his arms falling down. His hands got close to the locker, and he lifted up to look at it again. Peering, Toby looked in. "Did we squish something in there or something?" He wondered, tapping the locker. "You don't see anything, like, crazy, do you?"
“Why regret anything? Physical activity feels good, it’s just hard if you do it once and never again, if you do it more regularly you’d enjoy it” Dominic didn’t have too much understanding towards what he considered laziness “Drugs? That really sucks, so your choice is basically risk drug addiction or not get any sleep? Can’t say I’m jealous.”
”You know all the cracking and popping going on there sounds pretty disturbing right?” He had been quiet about it until now, but he felt like Toby was pushing it a bit and overdoing it. “Blog, news article, same thing, and who even listens to podcasts?” He couldn’t really claim to be much of a news reader or even a reader in general “This doesn’t sound like the way for me to get famous” he said jokingly.
“Squish something? I don’t know, I didn’t notice anything getting squished other than us” He walked over to the locker, grabbed the lock and just phased it off “Crazy? What do you mean? Crazy in what way?” He opened the locker “There you go, if you want to check out your former prison cell.”
Toby just snorted at the thought of physical activity ever being a good thing. Clearly this guy had a few screws loose, but then again, Toby had all but noticed when he'd phased into the locker instead of attacking the loss. At least the guy could sort of see what was going on with Toby and his power and all.
"Actually, I have to get knocked out every few days or so. Like I said: it's that or go crazy," and Toby used the moment to stretch a few more things out, swiveling and rising up fully. "Podcasts are a major thing. You are behind the times, my new friend. I'll have to hook you up with some."
But while waiting for that offer to be taken, Toby stepped aside and let Dom go at the locker. Soon he was leaning in, looking around. Definitely a few squished things in there. "Like those... I want to say they used to be shoes," Toby reached in and poked them, before wincing slightly. "at least there doesn't seem to be anything majorly breakable. Here," Toby handed Dom the shoe, "you try to do.... something with that while i look around,' Toby went in, then paused and poked back out. "I'd advise against smelling, unless that's just your thing."
Dominic raised an eyebrow at Toby’s snort “What? You’re a smart guy right? You know the benefits” He shrugged “Each to their own I guess.” People didn’t always do what was good for them and while he didn’t get it, Dominic couldn’t do anything about it other than rolling his eyes slightly.
“If I were you I’d probably end up an addict and do that daily” He was glad he didn’t have to deal with this problem, he didn’t need that in his life “the worst side effect for me is if I get mad or something and accidentally fall through the floor or something” this had only happened once, but considering how he had been feeling so far here, he wouldn’t be suprised if it happened again, which was why he was very focused on trying to keep himself calm and distracted. “I’ll pass on the podcasts... Or are there any good sports podcasts?” Then he realized who he was talking to “Or never mind.”
He frowned as Toby put a shoe in his hands, which he tried to somehow get back to it’s original shape “Uh... Okay, yeah probably shoes.” He looked at him as he went back into the locker to check out how things in there were doing “Yeah, no smelling shoes is not my thing” He gave him back the shoe, it didn’t look like it was a new shoe, maybe it had before all of this but it didn’t anymore “Why are you so interested in the locker? Is being stuck in lockers your thing?”
Toby mostly ignored the bit about benefits; they had enough to talk about without Toby focusing on all the details and all. The bit about addiction just had him clicking his tongue. "I enjoy the extra time most days. You should see my Steam history. Plus I know things. Like knitting. And lockpicking. And other totally manly activities."
Toby paused for a moment, again examining the materials in the locker. At least there didn't appear to be anything too dangerous in here. "Uh, I think there are some that are pretty good. If you go on, like, iTunes you can look up a whole bunch. Some sports commentators stay on top of that stuff." Toby waited a beat before offering a slight grin. "I get real bored with all that time on my hands."
Toby pulled out another shoe, pulling it, before reaching in and finding what appeared to be some kind of watch or something. "Fitbit, maybe?" Toby looked at the shoe as Dom tried to hand it to him. "Hey, that's your--" he began, and he probably would've answered the question too.
You know, if someone hadn't walked in. And interrupted him. By all but barking "What are you doing in my locker?"
Dominic felt like he was understanding who Toby was better, he was a bit strange but he was pretty hard to not like, he almost felt like he shouldn’t like him, but the annoying parts were overshadowed by the fact that he was entertaining. “Wait, knitting? Why?” He felt like Toby must probably be trying to fill the extra time as much as possible “I don’t even have steam, I should get one” while he wasn’t much of a gamer, it would be nice to have something to do when he was alone in his room and who didn’t like video games?
“I guess I should give it a chance then, why not, it’s not like I have anything better to do” He nodded, he felt like the real bored comment was only half joking “Oh trust me, I know boring, but it sounds like you’re kind of an expert on finding random things to help time go by at least, so that’s something” looking into things that didn’t interest him like knitting would have never even hit him when he was bored.
“Yeah, looks like fitbit” he wouldn’t mind getting one of those himself. Then somebody walked in, he looked up, probably looking like a deer in headlights as the guy who had entered asked what they were doing in his locker “I don’t...” He started, then looking at the shoe in his hand “I was just...” He didn’t seem be working under pressure, his face turning red, this was the worst thing that could have happened right now, he started wondering what would happen if he just phased through the floor.
"Why not?" Toby replied immediately to the query regarding his reasoning for learning about knitting. There were several other reasons that he could have brought up, but there really was only so much time, what with the incoming student and all. So Toby had to just sort of roll with the bits about boring and finding something to do and all that. Toby did have to agree with that: he'd long ago mastered the art of figuring out what to do with the many hours his life left available to him.
Then fitbit, and some commentary about said fitbit. Toby looked at it after the guy spoke to them. Then he looked at the shoe. Then at the guy, who was coming closer and closer with each passing moment.
"Now, there's a perfectly reasonable explanation," Toby said, before holding the fitbit up like it was some sort of charm. "It involves me being put into that locker. Then this guy, who is now using the awesome power of beet mimicry, jumped in to save me," Toby could see the guy coming closer and he held the device out a little more, looking very similar to someone using a cross to ward off vampires.
"Feel free to chime in any time," he said, his voice rising a little, his eyes shifting to his past savior now partner in crime.
Dominic seemed like he had frozen in place for a moment, thoughts rushed through his head, he didn’t want anyone to find out about this, what to do what to do!? He looked at Toby when he asked him to chime in, his deer in headlight look wasn’t gone, he had no idea how to deal with this or what to say, he was clearly not dealing with pressure.
He dropped the shoe on the floor and grabbed Toby’s arm “Drop the watch, now” He said to him. Wether he did that or not, he held his breath and phased them both and he dragged them through the lockers and the wall and into a new room.
From the sound of the screams and based on the few girls who were in the middle of changing clothes, Dom realized they had entered the girls locker room, so he did not unphase and dragged Toby with him across the room and through the next wall and into a hallway. He unhpased them and dropped to his knees, he hadn’t stayed phased for that long before, woah why was he feeling so dizzy? He blinked a couple times, then shakily tried to get back on his feet and shakily said “you’re welcome, you owe me two big ones.”
"Drop the--- you mean the--" Toby managed, only to find his words being jarred as Dom started moving. The fitbit went straight into the locker while the guy protested and started surging forward. Toby barely realized that they were moving before he realized he was standing in the girls' locker.
"Hey there!" he offered, waving a hand. He pointed at one girl. "Don't we have chemistry together? So knew those weren't reee---"
Again a pull, again a shift, and again Toby found himself standing in a hall. Dizzy, woozy, and slightly nauseous, Toby shifted over and leaned against a nearby water fountain, waiting for everything to more or less settle in.
"You do realize we could have talked our way out of that one," Toby pointed out. "Unless you were thinking I should thank you for the..." He gestured toward the girls' locker room, "that part. You do realize..." and sure enough, a girl was busting out from a door, head whipping back and forth.
"Next time, maybe leave me in the locker,' Toby muttered, wondering if he should even bother trying to talk his way out of this one.
Dominic wasn’t really listening to Toby at first, he wasn’t feeling good, he felt tired, he clearly was out of practice, which made sense due to the small amount of times he had actually used his powers and he had never used it for this long, he told himself to never do that again.
“Talk our way out? He was going to punch you in the face” While Dom wasn’t sure about how things worked here in comparison to his old school but he knew that he’d get his ass kicked if it had been his old school, so he acted accordingly. “Also if you hadn’t noticed, last time you tried tried talking you got locked in a locker” He pointed out, he assumed it was Toby’s attitude that got him stuck there in the first place.
He blushed when the girl came out of the girls locker room, this had been horrible, suddenly he’d be remembered as a thief and pervert forever, his life was over! “We.. We were getting attacked so we ran, didn’t know it was the girls locker room, I’m really sorry” He figured he’d try talking his way out of this one, who knew where they would end up if he went through another wall? Also could he even do that? He didn’t think he had the energy to keep doing that all the time.
“Maybe I will” he muttered back at Toby, how ungrateful he was acting. If Dominic hadn’t felt so horrible about what this might do to his reputation, he might have felt like him and Toby could make a pretty good comedic duo, but right now he just wanted to get away from him, he was ruining everything for him and he wasn’t even grateful for any of the help he had given him today.

"I've gotten more or less used to it by now," Toby offered. He could see avoiding punching being something of a benefit, but, well, he kept looking toward the door, and there had been that girl and all. Dom was doing his best to talk out of it, and the girl was glaring.
Time to shine: "Look," Toby stepped forward, "there was this goon, trapped me in a locker. Dom here, have you seen him? Adorable, right?" He tapped Dom. "Dom saved me. Then this guy showed up and was about to smash out face sin, so Dom plays hero again. He's new, so he didn't realize the whole locker room thing. Notice how quick we got out of there? Yeah, that's because we were totally--'
Toby paused, realizing that the girl had just rolled her eyes, muttered something about not doing it again, and headed back into the locker room. Toby stood there, blinking.
"That..." he said, pointing, "went way easier than I expected."
Dominic was really trying his best to explain, he didn’t think the girl would hurt them physically like the guy in the locker room might have done, but she could hurt Dom’s reputation, he wasn’t sure if Toby really cared about his own reputation.
He looked at Toby a bit doubtfully as he spoke, calling him adorable made him frown and blush slightly, adorable? Handsome maybe, though not from a guy. He did however appreciate that Toby’s version of the story made him sound a bit heroic, he wasn’t sure she bought it though, she seemed more like she lost interest as she left.
“Easier? That was humiliating, all of this, today, this day, humiliating” He shook his head and let out a deep sigh “Why me? Why can’t these weird things happen to other people instead?” He kicked the wall. At lest nobody got harmed or anything, though maybe that would have been better.
“I don’t know how smart it is to stay here, that guy might get here once he’s done dealing with his locker” He shook his head and then rubbed his eyes, still not feeling great “You’re weird, you know that?”
"Most days are like that," Toby offered with a shrug. He gave Dom a few pats on the back to further punctuate it. "Welcome to Bellefonte." He just smiled as Dom went and kicked a wall. Toby knew that not everyone had his philosophy of just letting it all happen or what have you. He'd been a bit like that too a few years ago, before he just stopped letting it get to him. Or, well, to be more accurate he found better outlets. Or maybe he was just spaced out from not having enough sleep. They did say that did crazy stuff to your brain.
Toby nodded. "Already moving," he said, turning to go. As Dom continued, Toby turned, walking backwards. His brows raised before he spoke: "You met me drumming on a locker and mostly worrying about how it would make me crazy, and you're just now coming to the weird conclusion? I would've started there, or at least at the response, or, y'know,' he gestured at himself before turning again.
Whether or not Dom followed would be mostly up to him. His suggestion had been good, and Toby could already hear doors opening behind him, hence his steady, perhaps a little quick, walk away.
”More like welcome to Bellecrap” he muttered as he followed Toby, since they were going the same way, to get out of here he assumed. “I’m not going to have more days like this, no way” He was, protesting that idea, though he was worried that it was probably true.
“Yeah okay, never mind then, I did notice that right away, I just figured I’d let you know” He said somewhat dryly. Still the comedian, at least he was self aware, Dominic was still a bit confused as to why he didn’t dislike him more, he really didn’t seem like the type of person he’d like and he didn’t think they would exactly become friends and hang out later or anything, they were just too different from each other right? Dominic did not consider himself a weird or awkward person at all.
“Are you gay?” He asked bluntly as they walked, the adorable comment had stuck with him a bit, so he just asked, if anyone was open enough to call him adorable, it wouldn’t be rude to ask would it? He felt like he was about to start over thinking it, so instead he looked behind then, hoping they weren’t being followed, which they didn’t seem to be so that was good at least.
