"Keep your breathing slow, focus on sight, not the target." Marcus lay in the brush with a pair of binoculars up to his face. He'd offered to take someone along to go shooting at a makeshift range some rednecks had built a ways off from the campground. He'd taken up a spot along with his impromptu pupil as far from the target placed at the end of the range as they could manage. He hadn't asked if the Academy would allow him to bring a handful of firearms on the trip but what the officials didn't know wouldn't hurt them. He had no problem showing someone around his modified AR15 and the best way to shoot.
It sure as hell beat sitting around the camp playing little kid games.
He pulled the binoculars down and glanced to the person beside him. "You comfortable?" Marcus asked, shifting his body weight so he could better take stock of his pupil's shooting position. He nodded a bit before settling back down into the dirt. "Don't tense up, stay relaxed. Don't forget to blink." He pointed out. "When you have your target..." Marcus said, referring to the vaguely human shaped paper target he'd stuck on a large plank of wood set up a good 100+ meters away. "Move the selector switch from 'safe' to 'semi, exhale, hold it..." He watched the target through his binoculars, waiting for the familiar sound of the weapon firing. ".... and fire when ready."
