Olivia “Liv” Anne Reese
♦ THE BASICS ♦
FACE CLAIM: Odeya Rush
♦ THE BASICS ♦
AGE: 17
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Demisexual
POSITION: Student at Bellefonte Academy♦ THE ABILITY ♦
POWER: Personal gravity manipulation.
Essentially, Olivia has the ability to adjust the gravitational pull on her person. This can look like having no gravitational pull so she’s floating in the air, having an extreme gravitational pull so that she can hardly walk, or having her pull be on the ceiling rather than on the floor. Since she’s young, there is a lot about her power that hasn’t been explored yet. In theory, Olivia could use her powers to increase her fighting abilities (i.e. change her pull to be strong towards an opponent while punching them), but she has yet to test it out. The shift is instantaneous, and requires little concentration.
LIMITATIONS:
Olivia can only adjust the gravitational pull on herself, not on anyone or anything else. This means that she cannot control her clothes, so skirts and loose clothes are a no-go if she plans on spending any time on the ceiling.
She also cannot always control her abilities. While daydreaming in class, she could find herself suddenly floating above her desk or sinking to the floor. She often wakes up to find herself not in her bed and somewhere else in her room entirely.
There is no limit to how long she can keep a gravitational pull going on herself, but complications can arise if she spends too long using a pull different from everyone else (“how do I get through this door?”).
SIDE-EFFECTS:
Using her powers too often in a short span of time (about four changes within an hour) will cause Olivia to become lightheaded, dizzy, and disoriented. If she kept going after that, the side-effects would increase to nosebleeds, intense migraines, and eventually passing out.♦ THE CHARACTER ♦
HEIGHT: 5’6”
HAIR COLOR: Dark brown
EYE COLOR: Blue
MISC: Olivia has her ears pierced once on each lobe, and she typically wears diamond studs. She always dresses expensively, usually in very famous brands. She has a scar on the base of her left thumb from trying to cut an apple late one night.
PERSONALITY: At first, Liv can often seem detached or off-putting to people her age. She finds it difficult to make friends with them, so she tends to resort to being judgemental, abrasive or simply sarcastic. She's fine with adults, and finds it easy to appear polite and well-adjusted around them after years of being paraded around at her parents' parties, but people her own age still allude her.
Once she’s comfortable with someone and feels that she can let her guard down, she can be an entirely different person. At that point, she is usually quite lovely and can be a decent friend. However, she's only had a handful of instances where that's happened. So far, none have been at Bellefonte. For sixteen years of life, she’s only been called Olivia, but she dreams of having friends that would call her Liv.
She enjoys playing the violin, singing, and playing lacrosse. Lacrosse is about the only place where she can get out her pent up aggression in a healthy way, so she tries to train as often as she can.
SECRET(S): Olivia occasionally shoplifts. She can’t do it while at school, so instead she sometimes takes trinkets from other people. She doesn’t need them, but she enjoys the rush of doing something wrong.♦ THE HISTORY ♦
Olivia was born to exceptionally wealthy parents in Upstate New York. She grew up spoiled, but rather ignored. Her parents were often working, and didn’t have a lot of time to pay attention to her. Instead, they left her with nannies and more things that she really knew what to do with.
She grew up without wanting for anything. Her parents sent her to the best boarding schools, gave her brand name clothing, and paraded her around whenever they had events. Olivia became a quiet, obedient girl, but grew up quite lonely and had difficulties making friends.
Around Christmas time when she was fifteen, Olivia woke up on the ceiling rather than in her bed. Over the course of the next few days, she was unable to keep one gravitational pull for longer than a few hours. Unsure of what to do with their daughter, her parents looked into options for children with “special abilities”. Much to their relief, they were approached by Mack and Daphne about Bellefonte Academy. Olivia’s parents did not want to deal with any sort of fallout, so she was sent with them almost right away.
Olivia’s parents told their social circle that she was sent away to a school in England, as they didn’t want to admit to having a mutant daughter. They limited contact with her and began to send her frequent, expensive gifts in order to atone for their guilt.
For Olivia, things weren’t much different other than the fact that she was at a mutant school rather than a regular one. However, it did feel more like abandonment than before, and this caused her to become rather closed off. She was able to settle in, but she found herself rather secluded, and instead focused closely on her studies.♦ THE PLAYER ♦
