SIDE-EFFECTS:♦ THE FREEFORM ♦
"Cole, have a seat," Something about the way he says it makes me uneasy. Like I'm in trouble, or they're about to tell me someone in my family is sick. I haven't done anything to get into trouble recently, unless one of my dorm mates ratted me out for smoking and drinking, but seeing as they all do it, I can't imagine they would have. My stomach sinks then. It has to be about my family. I take a seat, clenching the arms of the chairs tightly in anticipation.
I'm looking at my trainer who is sitting across from me on the edge of his desk, he's never been quite so serious looking in all of the time that I've known him. "What's going on, Caleb?" I'm half-expecting him to break into song or something because he's not like this. My stomach is twisting into knots and I'm certain that the reason he's the one telling me is because he can heal.
He raises his hand in a calming gesture and cracks a small smile, "Relax, Cole, it isn't...it isn't entirely bad, it's just complicated." I don't like complicated, and I sure as hell don't like not knowing so I stare at him and will him to keep going. "It's about your sister, Rowan. She's okay, she's not hurt, but, well...she's on her way here. She's manifested and it was...bad."
Rowan had manifested and it was bad. Of course it had been bad, if she had anything similar to his own ability, he could only imagine just how bad it had been. My manifestation had been explosive in the literal sense of the word, one tantrum too far and I caused our TV to spontaneously combust. If the neighbors hadn't been watching us, I'm pretty sure I'd have set the house on fire. There was glass everywhere, even had a shard stuck in my lip. As I'm sitting, thinking about my manifestation, my fingers reflexively move to the scar beneath my lip. I have to remind myself that she isn't hurt.♦ THE PLAYER ♦
