POWER: Tactile Telepathy
Tactile Telepathy is the ability to receive or transmit thoughts from oneself to another person via physical contact. The ability only picks up on surface thoughts and is only effective on one target at a time. Physical contact must be maintained for the ability to work and receive full or part of thought tracks. Tactile Telepathy for Poppy cannot be turned off and is effective with even the slightest contact, bumping into her would be enough to give her a quick "glimpse" of that persons thoughts, but only as quick as the contact lasts. Thoughts appear as a string of words (as if the words that were being thought were being written in front of her eyes, only inside her mind).
Poppy mostly uses her ability to scope out if a subject is lying or being honest. She does this while being in conversation and being told about something, she makes contact to see if what the person is thinking matches what the person is saying. In short she uses it like a mind-effective lie detector. For example if someone says "There's a dead body buried deep beneath the school's foundation" Poppy would make contact with that person to see if his thoughts contradict what he's saying.
LIMITATIONS:
* Can't be switched off, happens with every instance of contact
* Only activates on touch, and deactivates when contact is broken
* Does not work on mindless beings (such as animated objects, robots, etc)
* One target at a time
* Weak against nullification and mimicry, it's easily mimicked or nulled.
* Can't pick up thoughts in other languages
* Ineffective against people with strong minds
* Ineffective if a person has no thoughts or can block their minds
* Can only pick up surface thoughts, but nothing deeper such as memories or past thoughts (unless those thoughts are at the forefront of the person's mind)
SIDE-EFFECTS:
* Poppy has frequent headaches from too much contact
* The mental drain makes her tire quickly and easily
* She requires sleep if she has had too much contact
* Sometimes gets confused when she's had contact with several people
* If tired but not completely exhausted, meditation can help
* Mild mood swings if thoughts are emotion based (thinking of violence, love, happiness etc)
* Strong emotions cause spikes of pain if contact is kept for long periods of time.

POWER: Tactile Empathy
Tactile Empathy is the ability to see or feel a persons emotions or transmit their own emotions to a person via contact. The ability picks up extreme emotions (anger, hate, etc) and basic emotions (happiness, sad, etc). It affects only those who are in physical contact with Piper. Physical contact must be made and maintained for the Empathy to take effect. Tactile Empathy for Piper cannot be turned off, and happens with even the slightest touch, such as someone bumping into her, but the flow of emotions only lasts as long as contact lasts. When contact is broken, emotion flow is broken. Emotions from others, conflict with her own.
Piper uses her Tactile Empathy mostly to convey her own emotions if they are not evident in her body language, as she does not speak very often, if at all. She also uses her empathy to match her own emotions, or act with opposite emotions to try to help others.

When we were little, we had always known we were some kind of different. Not just different in that we were twins and had that bond that only twins had, but a different kind of different. It was weak, that much so that we felt it, but never really thought much of it. We never really looked into it. We just thought that we had stronger emotions than most, and that such cases were normal. Our parents were almost never around, our Christmas's were always lonely, we got presents and such, but... It just wasn't the same without our parents. We never really had any friends, and even our babysitter never really interacted with us, she was nice and all, but contact was limited.
My sister would often ask me about our parents, used talk, you know, be normal but with our parents almost never around, she just... stopped talking. No one knows exactly why, She doesn't show any signs of what might be the problem. The doctors say nothing's wrong with her, and that there might be another reason, that she might have selective mutism.
And as years wore on, things just seemed to get worse. Whenever one of us is sick or upset, the other one just... knows, but when we were developing our powers, it made it hard for us to be in contact with even each other... We had just turned fourteen and it was only about a week after that.. Our parents were home for once, and we were sitting down to dinner, our mum and dad shared a look with each other before our dad stood up and left the room, mum turned to us, told us... told us about a school that could help us with our... "conditions" she called them. Said she had been contacted some time ago about it...
My Piper suddenly burst into tears, her face saying it all. We were going to be split up, weren't we? we didn't... Couldn't be separated. Why was this happening? I didn't understand. There was a knock at the door, and father had entered with two people. They sat down at the table across from me and Piper, one parent at each end of the table. At first they talked about mutants and other people being like us. Piper's crying intensified, she was afraid. These strangers came into our home, our parents finally back for once, and they wanted to take us away... to some school. I grabbed my sisters hand, ignoring her surging thought's, running through the dizziness up to our room. Footsteps followed us, one blocking the front door, the other following us. We cornered ourselves. I started shouting at them, refusing, resisting, I didn't know these people, I didn't want my sister to be taken away from me.
We were all each other had. I wasn't going to lose that, but contact with my sister made us both dizzy and exhausted, we had blanked out. Resisting wasn't the best thing we had done, but it kept us safe. When we woke up, we were in our own beds, mum and dad sitting beside us, holding our hands, the two strangers standing there, arms crossed, but not in anger or in hate, but in patience. They told us that we didn't have to be apart, and that when our parents are around we can still see them, still be in contact with them. Seeing no other choice, we agreed...

And here we are now, Poppy's story in hand, heading to class. Being careful not to touch others. Poppy's stories are always interesting, she's so creative, compared to me. I'm more into sports, while we're identical twins, there are few differences between us, such Poppy is loud whereas I'm quiet, she's creative whereas I'm energetic and sporty though I do not play sports if I can help it. I would love to play, but my powers make it difficult. They make it difficult for everything. Yet somehow... people still mix us up, I get that we're new, but that shouldn't affect it... much. Though one thing with Poppy's story is that... it's a little bit all over, much like the way I'm thinking. I suppose that's just something we have to work on. Though with Poppy, that might be easier said than done. She's determined and ambitious, while I'm quiet and not so... well... her. Our abilities are almost as opposite as us. She has telepathy and I have empathy. Things get complicated very quickly if we touch each other.
I guess I do talk. Sometimes, but very very little. Half the time what I intend for words become squeaks instead. I can't talk to people that I'm uncomfortable with, I haven't said a word to any of the teachers we've met so far. I sort of just freeze and stand motionless, unable to make even the slightest sounds. Poppy is the only one I utter very few words to, and in large crowds I'll try to stand towards the back away from conversation. I don't do well in social situations, which is not going to help any oral projects we might have. I've been booked in to see the counselor every week for social therapy, I don't know how that'll go, but I'm willing to try it.
Entering class we took our seats, the teacher asking Poppy for her assignment, her assignment piece being The Belmont Chronicles. I zoned out during class, eyes beginning to drop. It was at the end of class when I was shaken awake rather quickly by Poppy.
We headed back to our dorm after class, Poppy with the original copy of her story in her hands. She took our past and made it into something interesting to read. I'm proud of my sister as I'm sure she's proud of me. We compliment each other like fire and ice compliment each other when working together.
