Daniel Alexander Underhill
FACE CLAIM: Aaron Tveit
♦ THE BASICS ♦
AGE: 32
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Homoromantic Asexual
POSITION: Philosophy Teacher at Bellefonte Academy♦ THE ABILITY ♦
POWER: Superhuman Healing
Daniel Underhill has the peculiar ability to heal faster than a normal human being, this stemming from his body's ability to replicate skin cells and the like. A paper cut can heal within an instant, a prick of his beloved sewing needles gone with a flash! It really does come in handy, especially with how clumsy he is.
LIMITATIONS:
The larger wound, the more time it takes to heal. For things like stab wounds or gunshots, it can take days longer to fix itself. Another tidbit is that mortal wounds are much harder for him to heal. Almost near impossible, one could say. He also cannot stop his wounds from becoming infected, thus causing him to become incredibly sick, and sometimes needing extra medicine to deal with said infections and ailments. Another thing is that if a limb were to be removed from his body, he would not be able to regenerate it, along with many of his organs. He cannot be revived, either, so if he does die, he's dead.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
- He has quite the low immune system, and because of this, he becomes sick quite often. This does not correlate much with his powers until his wounds become infected. Then, it's game over.
- When his wounds are healing, it can be extremely painful, to the point where it can cause him extreme agony. The times when this happens, not even morphine can help him. It's very frightful for him.
- Daniel is almost constantly hungry, due to the fact that his powers burns so many calories. It's become so much of a problem, that even scouring his desk will reveal multiple packs of chips and jellybeans.
- He may or may not have become addicted to painkillers at some points in his life, due to constantly needing them for pains and aches. His pain tolerance is incredibly low, as a result, and he has become very much careless when it comes to injuries. Although, he does try to be careful.
♦ THE CHARACTER ♦
HEIGHT: 6’0
HAIR COLOR: Dark brown
EYE COLOR: Blue
MISC: Daniel, being farsighted, must wear reading glasses when he reads. He also prefers sweater vests and sweaters in general to T-shirts. When he's in public, anyway. When he's alone, in his dorm, though, he can be found wearing T-shirts and shorts at almost all times. He's also very clean when it comes to appearance and also his desk, work space, and room. He can't stand untidiness.
PERSONALITY: Daniel is a very… Er, would secretive be the right word for it?
He dislikes large crowds of people, but he loves working with teenagers. He finds himself being much closer to his students than with his co-workers, which may seem weird to an outsider, but to him, the world of tomorrow is of great importance, and if he can help his students in any way, he will.
Of course, with great power comes great responsibility, and so he chooses to keep most of his relationships with students as professional, while still being friendly, as possible.
With fellow staff, he tends to be more withdrawn and nervous, much like a female character from a young-adult's novel. However, he is willing to put his life on the line for anyone and everyone he cares about. That is why he became a teacher in the first place.
SECRET(S): Daniel has a lot of secrets. For one, he has a secret stash of candy and snacks in his desks.
A frankly bigger secret is that he is a homosexual. He refrains from telling people, due to his conservative upbringing, but once he finds a special one, he typically ends up falling head over heels for them. He worries that one day, someone will use it against him, though, as has happened many times before.♦ THE HISTORY ♦
Daniel was born in Liverpool, England on January 16th, 1985 to Martha and Christian Underhill, two very devout Christian parents. They heavily revered the bible, believing it to be the literal word of God, and forcing him to abide by every word of the book of God.
That was especially true when it came to believing that demons were still walking the earth. That’s why it was so unfortunate that one day, poor Daniel was stabbed in the gut by another kid on the play yard. That wasn’t the unfortunate part, however, although yes, it was very painful.
The unfortunate part was how fast he healed.
The agony, oh God, the agony... It was so painful, to the point where not even morphine could help. When his parents realized what had happened, and how the doctor's had no explanation for the fact that, especially as his wound healed within three days. This caused his parents to hate him, withdrawing from him completely, and him being transferred to St Bethany in England.
Soon after transferring, he lost contact with his parents. He never learned what became of them, but... part of him hoped that they would be okay in this crazy world.
During his stay at St Bethany's, he developed his powers, working to better himself in the process. Years of being told things that you did were wrong and sinful really took a toll on someone.
Realizing he needed to be as far away from his parents as possible, and out of England due to the harsh anti-homosexual sentiment shared by most of the people in the country, and he decided to become a teacher while in America, figuring that people, especially teenage mutants, needed someone to talk to.
Eventually, he was hired at Bellefonte, and began working to better the generation of tomorrow.♦ THE PLAYER ♦
