Everett Johnson King
FACE CLAIM: Chad Michael Murray
♦ THE BASICS ♦
AGE: 22
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Bisexual
POSITION: Chef at local cafe, Cake Walk♦ THE ABILITY ♦
POWER: Ink Manipulation
Everett has the ability to bring whatever he draws to life. With concentration he can bring the creation off paper. However this power is limited to drawings, he cannot bring words or stories to life or create alternate worlds within his work. Additionally, Ever's power only seems to work on images he has created, he is unable to animate the drawings of any other artist. The larger the drawing the harder it is to animate. However once the creation is off the paper it's connection with Ever is snapped, and while the creation is no longer draining his energy, he also has no control over it's actions, mentality or movements. The only way he can destroy one of his creations is if he ruins the drawing, either by drawing through it or tearing the paper.
Similarly he can also manipulate ink from the pen, or draw it out of paper. With a strong mentality he can shape it and harden it into shapes. While this power is largely useless, he can make a rather dandy spike or blade with it - if only temporarily. The ink that he can manipulate is not limited by its type. Any kind of liquid ink, such as pen ink or Japanese calligraphy ink can be manipulated. However, he cannot manipulate the ink of his own drawings once they'd have left the paper.
LIMITATIONS:
- Once they have left the paper, Everett has no way to control the things he draws. He also does not posses the ability to return them to paper. The only way to destroy his creations is to destroy the original drawing on the page.
- His power is limited to drawings. He cannot bring words or alternate worlds off the paper.
- The drawing needs to be completed in order to be brought off the paper. It would not be possible to animate a scribble or other unintelligible shape.
- Ink manipulation is quite difficult. The more specific Ever gets, the more difficult the manipulation becomes. For example, creating a perfect replica of a Storm Trooper gun out of ink would be immensely more difficult than simply lifting a puddle of unformed ink off the table.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
- The larger the image Everett is trying to bring to life, the harder and more exhausting it is. Giving his drawings life drains his own life force to fuel it. As such, after animating large drawings he has been known to faint, or fall into Ann exhausted sleep. For smaller drawings, it is usually a strain but manageable.
- Ink manipulation requires immense consent ration and is quite taxing for Ever. The more specific the item he is trying to create, the greater the mental strain. Often he is left with headaches or the occasional migraine.♦ THE CHARACTER ♦

HAIR COLOR: Caramel blonde, though lighter at the tips.
EYE COLOR: Blue.
MISC:
- Large burn scar covering left forearm.
- Typically can be seen in plain clothes, usually jeans and a white shirt. He decorated usually with leather bracelets and necklaces.
PERSONALITY:
Quirky, bashful, stubborn and alive are the best words to put to Everett's name. He's always got a smile ready to share and loves to laugh. Food is his love and his life, and it is his belief that he can pass on his smile through his cooking, and it always certain to prepare the very best for all his charges. He takes responsibilities very strongly and once charged with something, will never drop it until his charge is complete.
He is thick-headed and stubborn. If he has an idea, it's going to happen and there wont be no two ways about it. He's selfless in most matters, but if he has something he loves or respects he can be incredibly selfish and possessive. These traits can also lead him to be quite immature, as he'll often act without thinking, either of himself or how his actions will affect others. He is often oblivious to the fact that his actions, even if he makes them alone, still have an effect on the environment and people around him, and as such he can sometimes cause harm or worry without meaning to. He loves secrets, though unfortunately has a terrible memory, and often forgets them after a day or two.
Ever is a restless soul and always needs to be moving in some way. Whether he's pacing, tapping his fingers or even just singing as he walks, he is a man of action and can't stand being still. This could also be why he as a slight sleeping problem, finding it difficult to fall asleep each night without outside assistance.
Ever is a water baby at heart, and he'll swim, surf, whatever, until his fingers are pruny and his lips are blue. He has a love of showers and all things warm and will often shoot his water bill off the charts with his lengthy baths and showers. He is an avid surfer and finds the sounds of waves relaxing, often playing them on a recording as he falls asleep.
SECRET(S):
- He believes that the violence his drawings often display are drawn from a dark place within himself, and as such he is afraid to draw when around most people.♦ THE HISTORY ♦
Everett was born to a relatively poor couple, Jennifer and Thomason in Coolangatta, Australia. Aside from their financial status the two were relatively normal in everything, except perhaps the fact that they were mutants. They kept the fact quite well-hidden until Everett's fifteenth year.
- - -
At the age of three, Everett found himself with a sibling, a little boy that his parents named Gabriel. Growing up, the brothers were incredibly close, with Gabe following Ever practically everywhere. Their company was all they had, and all they needed in an otherwise dim life. With both parents working two jobs to keep their roof up, Everett took over raising Gabe, for the most part.
Following in his mother's artistic background, Ever had always had a knack for drawing, and his surprise was tangible the day he drew and discovered his drawings coming to life. He had been drawing a knife and cut himself on a blade that suddenly became real. He was fifteen when his powers first began to appear.
After that the wall of lies started falling, and Ever found himself welcomed into the world of the 'gifted'. Similar to his parents, Ever was a mutant. He was collected about a week later, though it took a day or so of convincing. While Everett was interested in learning more about his abilities, he was perfectly content living in the normal, human world with his brother. Gabriel didn't say much about Everett's recruitment, but Ever was sure he didn't like it. Eventually though, his parents convinced him to take the opportunity.
As he grew to be more comfortable with his powers, somehow they began slipping more and more, perhaps because he was becoming stronger. The drawings in his notebook began to animate themselves, first simply moving around on the paper, and then lifting off altogether. At first Everett was amazed by the ability, but he quickly discovered that the longer the creations stayed animated, the more violent they seemed to become. It was almost as if they loathed the fact that they had been unnaturally brought to life. After a rat he drew bit a classmate, Ever stopped drawing in class. He very nearly stopped drawing altogether, only doing it when alone and never animating them.
At school Everett was neither gifted nor motivated, and a great deal of the time his notebooks were filled with drawings and sketches instead of any actual work. Because of this, tensions developed between he and his brother, who had not had the privilege of attending school. His parents had worked had enough trying to get Ever a base education, and where Gabe saw this as a perfect opportunity for Everett to thank them, he lacked any motivation. He slunk around in the background, not feeling any real need to draw attention to himself. There was no drive in his life and nothing pushing him towards a goal. He saw no end, and had no dream to accomplish. Life was a tedious routine to the adolescent, and he could not be bothered changing it, yet could not be pacified with his life how it was.
On a stroke of boredom he attempted to make a batch of cookies at home for his folks. The burst of curiosity resulted to a torched kitchen and a very terrifying scolding from his parents. The punishment of ruining his family kitchen and blowing up the stove did exactly the opposite of what Ever had been expecting. He became motivated. Gabe however, became furious. The brother's already tenuous relationship became crippled before snapping entirely, Gabe's dedication to his family facing off against Everett's desire to explore his own future. In an attempt to make it up to his parents, Rett dedicated the next few years of his life learning the art of culinary creation. Once he actually began to enjoy cooking he took over dinner preparation from his mother and found himself accelerating [through no natural skill of his own] through the art.
It was around this time that Gabriel discovered that he too, was a mutant. Pretty quickly he and Everett were traveling to school together, which proved strenuous for both.
After graduation, with no wonderful grades to boast of, Everett instead used his wallet to get into a culinary academy, and trained to be a chef. He moved away from home, leaving his parents and brother behind. It wasn't an expensive profession, but his family had never had expensive taste, and money didn't seem important. It wasn't a desire to please now that urged him on, but a genuine love for cooking that he had discovered along the way. It was perhaps because he saw cooking as another form of art, and unlike his drawing experiences, his food did not come to life. It was simply a way for Ever to express himself without putting his person or his family in danger.
In his first week of the culinary academy he dropped a pot of boiling pasta and water and badly scalded his arm. While initially worried it would impede on both his drawing and his cooking, the damage was not incredibly serious, and he reasoned that as long as he had his hands to work with, a single scar did not matter.
After he graduated from the academy, Everett decided to take the money he'd earned and travel, hoping to learn different culinary arts from a multitude of places. He arrived in Bellefonte and rented a cheap apartment for himself, fairly easily finding himself a job at a local cafe. It wasn't exactly what he was looking for, but it was work and there was food.♦ THE PLAYER ♦
