Georgia smirked. "Well, you got lucky then," she drawled, leaning back slightly. She soon found herself adding a slight shrug. "I grew up around here. Plus, my mom wasn't around a lot, so I kinda learned to fend for myself. I think about a third of my meals growing up were in places like this."
Which Georgia thought was pretty cool, personally. there were fewer places in this town that didn't know her than did, and most of those were the ones that popped up because somebody moved here as a result of the school or something along those lines. Georgia had sort of established a pattern though, and she mostly just took advantage of those oddities when she wanted a drink.
So every other week or so.
"What's there to be curious about?" Georgia asked. "you're a pretty cute Asian guy who was sitting all alone in one of my hangouts. Plus, you're buying me food," Georgia shrugged again. "And if you tried to, like, drug me or something, it wouldn't work out for you." Mostly because her power made her all but immune to that sort of thing (something which she'd sadly had to check a few times), but also because, again, most of the people who worked at these places knew her. "But I'm betting you were more lost. You look more lamb than wolf, after all," and Georgia put on a grin that suggested that same truth might not be the same for her.

“Lucky indeed,” he agreed, even if he supposed someone knowing a bit less the area could still have pointed him in the direction of a good place to eat too. He’ll have to try and meet with that Georgia again for more places in the future. Or find someone else who knew Kalispell well. Maybe someone in the staff wouldn’t mind. Someone with fewer red flags than her.
It was actually hard for Kentaro to imagine having most of his meals in places like this. As an adult, maybe, but a child, certainly not. Then again, he supposed it was a difference of culture that explained it. His mother never would have dared to send her kids off for school without a breakfast in their stomach and a lunchbox in their bag. Even if that meant going to bed late the day before to make sure she had something prepared for their lunch the next day.
Georgia had implied he should have asked for her name and he had, eventually. What was funny was that she had not asked for his in return. He should have given it. As she said though, he was a lonely guy she didn’t know and just offered her food. A drink, he could get, but it was more than that. Okay, maybe he shouldn’t have followed her either but he believed he could have stopped her had she tried anything on him. She looked strong but not as strong as he was. “Drug you? You’re pretty confident and laidback about it despite having thought of it.” Not that he meant to drug her. And he would have preferred she didn’t think that he could have.
“And you look like a wolf in sheep’s clothing,” he retorted. He didn’t quite like being a lamb but he was not sure just how wolf he was. The plates arrived and Kentaro discovered just what he ordered. Apparently it was pasta, with breaded chicken. She should be happy, if that was not gravy it looked like sauce on top of it. And cheese. A very large plate. He seemed a bit surprised by its size actually. Could they really stuff all this in their stomach every day? “You’re right about Asian. Japanese, actually. My name’s Kentaro Itonokogiri.”

Georgia shrugged as Kentaro pointed out how little the drugging affected her. "So far, we've only been places where everyone knows me. You'd have been the one getting your ass beat, not me," Georgia smiled at that, knowing that she likely radiated more confidence. That smile only widened as Kentaro said she looked like a wolf in sheep's clothing.
"That's what I aim for," she said, before leaning back again, just in time for the food to arrive. Hers had some heavy sauce on it and just looking at it made her stomach grumble. "Ken, huh? Kinda works," Georgia said before starting to go after her food, working a bit of it onto a fork and all but mashing it down.
"Don't worry: you're safe," she said, before taking a pretty large bite, letting out a groan. "Hey, it's tasting pretty damn good today!" Georgia called, before shooting a thumbs up. She put another large forkful into her mouth, chewing animatedly, still managing a smile and a wink toward Ken.

“I’m curious to know where people don’t know you. You sound like I ended up on the best person to get to know the town,” he retorted, not saying anything about the rest as they both knew she was right. If something was to happen to her, he’d be the one in trouble. Even if he did nothing, he’d likely be the one in trouble. It was that mentality that made people blame strangers to their community before pointing the finger at their own. Everyone seemed to be doing that.
A laugh escaped him. “I better watch out then,” he said in reply. There was something very wolf-like about her indeed. She was not as innocent as... well, it was not like she pretended to be innocent from the start. He did wonder how predator she was however and if he should be careful. He laughed again as she called him Ken. “Yeah, I get that a lot around here.” It was his name after all, and he was pretty sure he’d find it weird should she add any suffix used in his language after it.
He became less interesting once the food arrived. Not that he minded a whole lot because his stomach reminded him that he too should prioritize food. She still took the time to assure him he was safe, which he was not sure had to do with the wolf thing or the fact he was the one who’d get his ass kicked. “I don’t get how you can have plates this big,” Kentaro let out before sampling the food It was good, he had nothing to say against that. He just wasn’t used to plates this big, as he just told her. He got hearty meals before but they didn't look as heavy as this. Probably because they mostly came in the shape of a hotpot. “And you fed like that every day?”

"Some of the classier joints like to pretend they don't know me," Georgia offered, adding a nonchalant shrug. She mostly had the food to focus on at this point, but she had long since learned how to respond to people while still eating. Technically Georgia could fully talk around a mouthful of food, but she wasn't quite ready to demonstrate this impressive skill for Ken yet.
Speaking of: Georgia pretty much ignored his bit about his name. What else was she supposed to call him? People called her "George" or "Gigi" all the time, and she pretty much just rolled with it. So long as it wasn't insulting, where was the harm? Plus, again: delicious food to eat.
"Pretty sure they buy the plates from China," Georgia did drawl after swallowing some food. "An' I didn't get quite this much. Usually got some table scraps an' stuff. 'course, in places like this, that's better than some meals you'd get at school." Georgia paused for a moment, hand still gripping a fork. "Maybe not Bellefonte, especially with the newer cooks, but, like, in general," Georgia shrugged and took another bite. "Can always ask for a to-go box if you're not gonna finish it all," she added, this time speaking a bit through her food and fighting the urge to just start slurping.

Something could be said about that statement but Kentaro kept it to himself. Georgia already proved enough to him that she knew her way around town. One look at her might explain why the fancier places would like to pretend they don’t know her but he also figured they’d say the same about him, if not because of his look at least because of his bank account. “Not really interested in classy, just want to find my way without getting lost constantly,” he said. Plus he knew fancy didn’t always mean better. Usually it meant smaller portions at ten times the price because whatever was in the plate was supposed to be top quality. He much preferred to eat until he was full rather than say he tasted some rare meal.
The fact the plates came from China, or anywhere else, didn’t matter as Kentaro meant more what was in it than the actual plates. And in hers was just as big a portion of food as in his. She seemed happy of it and was munching it with obvious delight. He knew she was talking but barely paid attention to it until she said one word. “School?” It wasn’t that weird, she looked young and she said she’d been eating at places like this one since childhood. But Kentaro worked at a school and so the word had another meaning to him. He studied her and came to the conclusion that she must be a college student. He hoped she was one. Because if she was in high school still... But even college explained the red flags he sensed around her. Legal , maybe, but still not one he should be too close to. Especially when she mentioned Bellefonte.
“I work there,” he said with some light surprise in his voice. Damn. Did he just get himself in trouble? He didn’t want to be sent back to Japan right after he came here. He still had a lot of work to do, much to study. If she was hoping anything more from him than a meal, this just killed all chances.

The mention of school had Georgia nodding. "Yeah, the school. I'm one of the local freakazoids," Georgia offered Ken another wink before reaching to take a swig from a glass of water that had appeared at their table at some point. She swished it around, nearly gurgling before swallowing. "Though I do know the actual family with the name. Eaten there a few times," she took another bite of the food, thoroughly enjoying her rapidly disappearing food.
Georgia looked to Ken as he spoke about his employment, sounding surprised for some reason. "Then you'll probably hear all the nasty rumors about me. 'bout two thirds of them are true. The ones that ain't, I probly made up myself."
She shot another wink, before taking another bite of the food, closing her eyes to enjoy the taste a little more. She swallowed and met Ken's eyes, grinning. 'Why so nervous? You wouldn't be the first staff member to hang out with a student. Hell, I've done a lot worse with some staffers before, believe me." And again came that wink and a smirk.

Kentaro’s right brow arched up at her words. Freakazoids? That was one hell of a way to describe the people at the school. Sounded more like something those against mutants could come up with rather than what one of theirs would say. “The Bellefonte?” Kentaro was aware the school took its name from a family and that the family was still alive with members attending the school, but he never really talked much to any of its members. He wouldn’t even be able to say which one of the students was part of it.
Kentaro finally admitted working there himself. He didn't see as a problem to eat with her. As long as the boundaries of what was appropriate weren’t crossed, there was nothing wrong with it. Kentaro knew of a few teachers and trainers from his school who’d take the time to speak one on one with a student they feared had a problem. Or took the time to do that should the student ask it. He never heard of them accidentally paying a meal to a student however. He froze as he realised she took a sip of his beer. “And amongst those rumours, any about underage drinking?” He could argue she was the one who took a sip of his beer but he also remembered how he offered it to her. That was crossing the line and he was upset about it.
She, on the other hand, found it funny. He couldn’t hide the surprise to appear in his gaze for a second but did his best to cover it. Worse than that? This school was awfully lax if staff members could do worse than that with students, college ones or not. “I’m new and a transfer. I wouldn’t want to be sent back because I overstepped my rights.” That was the truth but he also felt like he made him sound very strict, which he didn’t think he was. He ended up giving her a little smile. “I’ve no problem buying you a meal but I think you might have assumed too much if you thought it would have gone further to begin with.”
"Yeah, though there's more like,' Georgia held up a few fingers, "three or five of 'em. Y'know," Georgia paused, pointing to Ken, her face scrunching with thought, "that was never very clear? I grew up with 'em, and I swear I can never remember how many I ran into. The triplets are about my age though," she shrugged. Keeping track of the Bellefontes had always been a bit of a side project for Georgia. She knew her Banks history fairly well, given that she was all but an insider there, but the Bellefontes were still somewhat of a mystery, albeit one where Georgia had skimmed the last chapter.
The mention of drinking had her chuckling: clearly Ken was wondering about a few mysteries of his own. "Of course," she offered. "It's a boarding school that allows students of nearly all ages, an' we're right next to a town like this," she gestured around her. She still wasn't giving up any details about her age though, especially now that Ken had gotten so interested.
Georgia took another bite of her food, chewing and noting how very little was left. She must have been hungrier than she thought. While she considered, Georgia half-listened as Ken continued, eventually waving off his concerns. "I wouldn't worry," she said, "seriously." The last bit had her chuckling. "What, you mean you weren't planning on taking me out back and ripping my pants off? Damn, Ken," Georgia clicked her tongue, "you just ain't no fun at all, are you?"

That many kids? He’d have to look into that. At the same time, he didn’t really care about the Bellefonte kids. The headmaster, sure, he’d care about him, since he owed his presence here to the man, but he wouldn’t stress so much about getting on the kids’ good side. It was not like they could get himself kicked out. “Triplets?!” he let out. He barely listened to her as she talked of them until she mentioned that. Triplets. He saw twins maybe once in his life but never actual triplets. The only thing he thought about was just how painful it must have been for the mother to deliver them.
Kentaro resisted the urge to shake his age. America was very lax if a girl could laugh as she admitted drinking despite not being in age to even drink. That would have turned into a scandal back home. “At Sainō, you could get in trouble for a lot less,” he pointed out. The law was the law, and they would never permit a student to break it. Somehow, he assumed it was the same here, only this one followed her own rules. That fitted what he had seen so far of her. “But I get the feeling you’d deny saying that should I bring it up.” There was a light smile as this sort of amused him. With his words against hers, even if they considered she was someone with a certain kind of reputation, they couldn’t do much. He did catch her drinking. His own beer. Better not bring that up either. Not that he meant to in the first place though...
Kentaro was only about halfway through his meal when he saw how she was nearly done herself. He smiled at that, once again rather amused as he was the one who claimed being hungry here. He was not surprised she would brush away his concern. It was not her life. “I came here for a reason, I don’t intend to leave before it’s done. That being said, I won’t spend my time checking my back.” He planned to have some fun too, maybe just not with a student. That would ruin the teacher/student relationship he was supposed to keep with them.
He laughed though as she complained about this. She did laugh too, so he didn't take it too close at heart, knowing she was doing the same. “Get a job at the school and then we’d talk about ripping off clothes again,” he offered as a form of teasing before taking some more of the pasta. “If you need a ride back to the school however, I’ve got no problem. But I don’t think you’d enjoy it,” he claimed, an amused smirk on his face.

Georgia nodded as Kentaro repeated the bit about triplets. She knew that sometimes just hearing about the Bellefontes could throw people for a loop. What with there being so many and for them being rich and mutants and just about everything. But for Georgia, they were simply something she'd grown up with and gotten used to. Much like the relatively lax rulings and how they pretty well had to deal with her. Hearing Kentaro point that out amused her though.
"Probably," Georgia said, shrugging. "But they probly wouldn't care about all the dating or whatnot, seeing as they're all perverts over in Japan," she gave him a sly smile, knowing full well that she'd not so subtly just called Ken a pervert as well. His next comment just had her grinning and taking another bite of that rapidly diminishing food. "Or I'd claim that you bought it," she decided to add before taking a sip of the definitely nonalcoholic drink in front of her. This place wouldn't serve her booze, despite her wheeling and begging. Probably didn't help that they didn't have much beyond the occasional BYOB.
Eating, enjoying themselves, and finishing up. The bit about jobs nearly had Georgia snorting. "Do I look like someone who works?" she had to point out, smirking a little. What? she knew she was a gold-digger, might as well lean into it. "What, you got one of those mopeds or something. You totally look like a moped guy."
Post by Kentaro Itonokogiri on Dec 15, 2016 14:44:54 GMT
Pervert was a first for Kentaro, no matter how you brought it. “Really? And what makes you say that?” If he had to say something, he’d say they were not all that perverted and probably kind of conservative. But he also doubted Georgia had met with enough Japanese people to really tell for sure. “Are you saying that because of hentai?” he asked, suspecting it was something like this. Would she even know what he was talking about? He was not certain, but he was already up to correct something about it. “We allow a lot more with drawn pictures than we do with actual people,” he pointed out. If that comment was just another attempt from her to show him just how perverted he could be... Kentaro was not quite sure how to take it.
He laughed at her reply. “Which is technically true,” he admitted. He did buy the beer, just not for her. One sip couldn’t do her bad anyway. He couldn’t say he sampled as much alcohol as she claimed she had when he was around her age but he also couldn’t rightfully say he never had some at an age he shouldn’t. He just never dared go to a bar and order something until the right age, but people seemed pretty lax here with that rule so it must explain why.
He laughed again at her refusal to work. He didn't think much of it, other than she was like so many others, and not just from her generation, who didn’t know exactly what they wanted to do in life but didn’t want to work too hard to get a nice paycheck while they figure it out. “I don’t know, what’s a moped guy?” He was not quite sure what she meant by that, but he had the feeling she was also talking of some car that should be thrown to a junkyard rather than stay on the road. “I ride a bike, actually.”
Post by Georgia River on Dec 17, 2016 17:04:47 GMT
"Pretty much common knowledge there, Kenny," Georgia replied, adding a wink. most of what she knew of Japan came from rumors and the internet. Sure, she'd heard bits and pieces about hentai and all, but, well, that wasn't something that really interested her or even bothered her much at all. Heck, the pervert thing didn't bother her. But she had heard something about being okay with underaged dating and all sorts of weird things. Wasn't there a pantie vending machine story or something?
Georgia finished up her food, tapping the plate a few times with her fork as she finished. The ride offer still hung there, and she had to smirk. "Generally? Guys who think they're cooler than they are or who are self aware and kinda care about the environment or just don't have money," another pause, and, possibly just to get Kenny's goat: "Also Japanese perverts."
She winked at that, before setting down her silverware and stretching, hands linked and pulling over her head. "Oh, oh, lemme guess: It's a bicycle built for twooo" The last came out in a rather pleasant sing-song, nearly singing as she continued: "Because you'd look sweet, upon the seat, of a bicycle built for twooo," she let out a slight laugh. "You're just trying to get me pushed up against your butt while you wiggle. So called the pervert thing."

“Common eh? That’s quite a reputation you’re giving me, not sure it’s one I’m interesting to uphold.” Unless it made flirting easier, then he wouldn’t mind living up to that idea Americans apparently had of Japanese people. Somehow, he thought it was just Georgia though. As long as they didn't start thinking he was going after panties or anything like that. Or think he was some guy from a host club. Then again, he might not mind that one too much. Hell, he probably even considered it at some point.
He listened to her explanation as to what a moped guy was. He was about to say which part would make him a moped guy by her standards, basically the environment thing, but she had to add the pervert part and he laughed at that. “You’re quite fixated on that aren’t you?” Had he not known she was a college student, he would have added that maybe she was the perverted one, but, given the circumstances, he believed this part should be left unsaid.
The song-like comment irritated him a bit but Kentaro tried to hide it and show only skepticism. Did he achieve that? He was not sure, but he started to understand how she enjoyed pushing people’s buttons. “I’m not sure how comfortable that would be, but at least you got it right and didn’t think it was a motorbike.” He ate another part of his meal, getting more and more certain that he’d never finish it. What was it with Americans and their meal portions? You had to be starving to clean your plates! Then again, Georgia emptied hers, so maybe it was only him. He drank some water before going back to their conversation. “Before you think it makes me an environmental freak or something, I do care about our planet, but it’s more because my driver’s license not valid here. Plus, I’m used to it anyway, even in the winter.” Now he only needed to get used to the town and he’d be fine.
Georgia just smirked at the mention of being fixated on the whole perversion thing. Well, smirked and gave him a little wink. "Hey, if the shoe fits," though her tone didn't suggest that she necessarily thought it at all. Technically he'd been totally polite and all, boringly so, but Georgia wasn't quite willing to admit that. Why would she? When she could keep teasing him like this.
Hence the continued teasing. The bit about comfort had her chuckling. "It's not: it's more about testing your agility than anything. Trust me, two people can ride just about anything if they're dedicated enough," Georgia's brows bounced there and she let out a sigh, mostly putting on an act, though she was remembering a bit of it. She could already tell that Kenny was getting stuffed; weren't most of the internationals keen on talking about how very much food they got around here? Oh well, not something Georgia cared about.
"Thought you needed a license for one of those too. Not like I know that many," she shrugged. "I only got one for ID. Well, and for borrowing cars," she smiled at that. After all, not like Georgia owned one. She glanced down at Kenny's food, then back at him, nodding. "You can always ask for a doggie bag, if you don't wanna clean your plate."
