Destin had dropped the auditorium curtains and was hiding on the stage in the wings with his guitar. It was fourth period and he was supposed to be in history. Trouble was, he couldn't find the motivation to care. He was much more interested in spending some time alone doing something he actually found worthwhile. He always found it difficult to concentrate in class and no amount of explaining seemed to get him any leeway. Being a Bellefonte kind of killed that level of understanding most people got.
He started absently strumming on the guitar, and the random notes quickly morphed into a song. After a pause he began singing, his voice lilting and quiet to prevent any eavesdroppers from discovering him and sending him back to class. The lyrics for Hopeless Wanderer tumbled from his mouth and Destin was quickly wrapped up in the rhythm of the song. His voice rose higher without him realizing it.
Destin didn't even realize when the curtains parted, signalling someone had indeed found his hiding space. His eyes had slid shut in pure bliss, a smile on his face as he hit the chorus and kept on singing.
This year, Luxanna had found herself with a lot more freetime between class, which she suggested stemmed from the fact that she wasn't part of a whole lot of clubs. She also realized that the extra freetime suited her perfectly. It gave her room to breathe and stay away from the larger crowds.
It also, usually, gave her an excuse to see Jack or James.
Music caught the brunette's ears and she found herself drawing towards it and into the auditorium. Walking with seemless ease, she almost forgot herself as she walked through the curtains, green eyes falling upon one of the Bellefonte twins - whom she only knew by reputation.
The brunette remained quiet, though, awkwardly hovering between continuing to listen or leaving the boy alone.

Feeling eyes on him, Destin opened his eyes and looked up. He locked eyes with a girl standing between the curtains and his hands automatically froze on the strings. He hadn't realized he'd had an audience, not that he minded playing for a crowd. He wasn't quite ready to go public with his singing yet though and felt abashed to have been discovered.
Hurriedly placing his guitar to the side, the movement reverent even in his haste, Destin got to his feet and approached the young woman. He didn't recognize her. But then, he didn't make it a point to get to know all that many people either. "You were eavesdropping." He made the accusation lightly, a smile on his face to let her know he was only teasing. His head lilted to the side, brown hair falling into his eyes. "Or was it that I sounded so bad you thought someone was dying in here and came to help?"
