Jimmy had been appointed to the survival safety activities, meaning… well, he was not sure. It meant he was making everyone safe, since there was the word safety, right? He didn’t seem to be doing a lot of guarding though. More like going out in the woods. And making people crazy because he got lost because he followed a different path. But it was so hard for him to keep his focus on. You could tell him to go looking for mushrooms, and he would go with all the desire and determination to do just that. Then an animal would cross his path and curiosity would take over and Jimmy would end up doing something different entirely. This was what happened.
He was supposed to gather some wood for the campfire. Nothing difficult. He was told t had to be dry and not to wander too far. Since he could hear people, he figured he was fine. Then Jimmy saw a squirrel. “Hello,” he said, almost mused, at the animal. Said animal already started to run. With a few twigs in hands, Jimmy followed but the squirrel was fast. Eventually, it went on a tree. Jimmy simply stared at it at first. It vaguely reminded him of Bruce, his pet rat, only with a much nicer tail. He bet it was all fluffy too. Now he wanted to touch it. Dropping the wood by the tree, he worked on climbing it too.
The climb up had not been as difficult as he first imagined. Sadly, the squirrel ran down by the time he reached the branches. And Jimmy was now caught in a tree. Looking down, he couldn’t remember how he got in in the first place. He tried to move around, not sure if the solution was not to simply jump down but afraid it would hurt. “Hmm... Help?” he mumbled. He doubted anyone heard that, but maybe the boy stood out enough in the tree to be noticed. Or someone would come looking for him.
