Pulling the closing shift was always Alex’s favorite. She got to sleep in all day, and work all night. Which while it may have cut into her own free time and fun, it was better for her because she was a night owl all the way through. Of course it had its downsides. Heavily intoxicated people by the end of the night who refused to leave the bar. Most of them were her regulars though and it always made it so much easier. They loved her, some probably actually loved her, so getting them to leave was like nothing.
Alex was wiping down the counter that wrapped all the way around, making her rounds to her customers and making sure everyone was taken care of. Most of the faces were familiar, she made small talk and smiled. Towards the far corner, she noted someone she didn’t know and who she couldn’t even remember waiting on all night. She set the towel down and tapped the table with her hand lightly, “Hey, can I get you anything?”
It was a little late to be just starting. By the time they even got a little bit lit, it’d be time for her to close up. There was always the possibility that they weren’t in it for getting smashed, but in her experience, she always drank to get trashed (in the comfort of her or her twin’s apartment). “We’ve got anything you’d like.”
"Good to hear," Reign replied, giving the bartender a big smile and batting his blue eyes in flirtation. He always flirted subconsciously. Couldn't help it. It was part of his personality. Sometimes his friends would point it out to him, which would make him stop, but tonight he was on his own. He had been working on a painting at the art studio on the Bellefonte campus all night. He needed a drink in the worst way.
"Can I get whatever your favourite cocktail is?" he asked, feeling adventurous. He usually only drank gin and tonics. "And sorry for coming in so late," he said apologetically. He knew that it wasn't quite last call yet, so he had no reason to feel guilty, but in his mind every time it was getting close to closing all of the employees simply wanted the customers to fuck right off so they could start closing up. At least, that's how he always felt when he still worked in food service and retail.
