Gem’s reply to his answer was not exactly what Michael had expected. Better? At the same time, having him answer that instead of looking disappointed because he was the next best thing after a football team pleased the young man. Maybe Michael didn’t come to see him for his dancing skills but Gem chose to stick with the fact Michael stayed and that really was the only thing that mattered really. Besides, could Michael really expect someone like him to retort something he would say? Probably not. This was as good as he could get. Even better, in fact, since Gem was more than satisfied by his answer. At least he expected Michael not to have walked in on him on purpose.
The third floor was there, right in front of their eyes and Michael knew he was the first door of the co-ed section. This meant that this little interlude was over. Gem did point out he had to go to bed early because of class tomorrow. Michael wanted to make him change his mind, of course. He didn’t intend to go to bed yet and spending the rest of the night alone would be boring. But he also wanted to think on the long run. “Looks like it. My room’s right here,” he said, pointing at the 307.
Michael was debating exactly what to do with Gem, whether he should invite him in for a few minutes or just kiss him and leave him there. Both were very interesting options in his mind but he didn't have the time to really think it through. Gem was already inviting him to his room. Okay, it was to have a chat but that wouldn’t stop Michael. He ginned at this. “I’d love to,” he told him with a hint of mischief showing in his eyes. He was surprised someone who looked as nervous as he was would come out with this on his own. Guess he should give the good guys more credit.
