Pan shrugged, unbothered by the fact that Peyton had needed her help. The girl was adjusting to having bird wings sprouting out of her back for christ's sake, she deserved a little leeway when it came to menial tasks. "You do you," she said in way of answer, shooting her a casual smile. "It's like your first period. It'll come when it's ready." The image of Peyton trying to tuck herself into a car was a funny one, even if it was a little rude of her to snort at it.
It sounded like she'd worried Peyton which hadn't been her intentions. Maybe it was for the best though. Kasey was the equivalent of a human porcupine so if Peyton went in prepared, perhaps she'd come out the other end prepared. "It's hard to be Kasey's friend," she admitted reluctantly. "He's prickly at the best of times downright antisocial any other day. He has his reasons though, he's been through some shit." Her face fell and Pan winced with reluctance. She'd opened her mouth again. Funny how good she was at gossiping. "But again, you didn't hear that from me."
Eager to leave the conversation behind Pan nodded. She didn't know the layout of the school that well but was willing to trust Peyton. "Race you there!" She kicked Shadow into a gallop with a whoop. Galloping was fun on any horse, but on a racehorse, it was something else altogether.
Not an analogy Peyton would have considered really but it was what it was. “I’m adjusting. Some things come easier. Some not so much.” Getting used to her wings was a learning process. Just being spatially aware of their position was hard enough. She’d lost track of how often she had actually banged them on a door frame.
Friend or not honestly Peyton would be glad to have someone she could just ask questions to. Sure she had teachers and guidance counselors even other students. But without them really knowing, they couldn’t answer some things. “I.. I can deal with prickly. I’ll just be glad to have someone to ask stuff to.”
Peyton let out a little “eep” as Pan kicked her horse into a gallop. She followed suit and started to gallop alongside. Though in truth she didn’t know the school layout all that well either. Her mental image was from an aerial perspective.
