The student lounge wasn't one of James' frequented hangout spots. In fact, he hadn't been in the lounge for a while since he moved out of the dorms and into his own apartment. His latest test subject had insisted that it was easiest for him to fall asleep in the lounge with many people flipping through tv channels and chattering about whatever. James didn't understand why they couldn't just test it out in a training room or even one of their dorms, but he didn't argue because he was determined to get this skill down. The guy didn't even need to be asleep, just zoned and if that meant both of them zoning in the lounge, so be it. Daydreams had to be easy to access.
With the kid next to him, listening to the instruction James could give, which wasn't much, he didn't take notice of anyone else around. He had to focus on this one person if he was going to work his way into his daydream. A little poking and prodding would probably be necessary, but that was the case for anyone.
Once he noted that the kid beside him was thoroughly dazed, shocking with all of the hustle and bustle of the room, he leaned back against the chair beside his test subject and did his best to lose his own mind and succumb to the dreamworld that he was far more comfortable in. Easing into the blurry mess that he imagined was this kid's subconscious thoughts, he waited for his vision to clear. Once it did, what he found wasn't entirely surprising, but was also not what he'd expected. It felt much like a regular dream, like he was engulfed completely, whereas he'd been told that daydreams felt like you were right on the edge of reality.
He took a second and looked around, still dazed and fairly confused by what he'd gotten himself into.
