Rain stepped into the culinary classroom; she wanted to bake some cookies. Around this time of year she always baked a bunch of cookies than handed them out to the homeless. She figured it was kind of like her Christmas gifts to them, something that made her feel good, and made others feel good as well. She had a bunch of different cookies she was going to make, sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodle, ginger bread, oatmeal, and some other ones. All the ingredients to make the cookies from scratch were in plastic bags from the grocery store which she had carried from her dorm to the classroom.
There was something special about taking a Saturday afternoon just to make cookies for other people. She thought about making cookies to hand out to the students in Bellefonte, and while she may do that at a later date she figured it would be nicer if she made them for people in need. Rain did not think about how cookies might not be the greatest gift in terms of healthiness, however, she did think it was a great gift for people who hadn’t had something sweet to eat in a long time. A part of her wanted to also take thermoses of hot chocolate or tea as well, she thought that might be too much work for her to handle, however, she was going to give out water bottles.
Rain placed her bags on the ground, getting only necessary ingredients out as she needed them instead of making a mess by taking everything out. She grabbed a cutting board, a mixing bowl, beaters, and a rolling pin out of a pantry in the back room and placed them on a counter top. Then she grabbed ingredients for the chocolate chip cookies and started mixing the dough together. When she was done mixing the ingredients together she grabbed a cookie sheet, and tin foil, placing the tin foil on the cookie sheet she then began to place spoonfuls of cookie dough on the pan. As she waited for the oven to preheat she began to lick cookie dough off her fingers, the spoon, and the mixing bowl. “Yummy”, one of the best parts of making cookies was to eat the small bits of cookie dough which was left over.
