POWER: Healing Transfer
Michael has the ability to transfer someone’s wounds/disease onto him and vice versa. His power works on both humans and animals. He needs to physically touch a person (skin to skin contact with his hands) for it to work, preferably where the wound is. Anywhere is fine but it will take longer for the transfer to occur and he risks passing on more than he meant to. Simply touching is not enough however, he must also have a desire to take the pain or pass it on, or at least to heal the person or himself. Whenever there is a transfer, the gravity is reduced by a fourth. A broken bone will become fractured for example. If he transferred it onto him, it will also eventually heal entirely although the process can take from a few minutes to several days, depending on the initial gravity of the wound/disease. Every time Michael takes on someone’s pain however, his cells deteriorate. If he keeps healing repeatedly and it is left unattended, it can shut down his whole system, much like a widespread cancer. This is where his transfer ability becomes vital: Michael must pass it on a living being in order to regenerate his cells. The creature will die of it however.
LIMITATIONS:
- Michael can only heal physical ailment. He cannot cure mental diseases. He also cannot grow back limbs or heal deformities as the person was born like this. He cannot make scars disappear as the wound healed already.
- While Michael can save someone on the brink of death, once they are dead, there is nothing he can do.
- Michael must have a desire to heal in order for his power to work. Desire, not intent.
- He must touch the person's skin with his hand(s) in order for the transfer to occur, there mustn’t be clothes in the way (hair, scales or feathers are not an issue however). The transfer happens so long as the contact is maintained. Once it is broken, if it had not been completed, he much touch the person again to continue. If he is in no state to do so (lost consciousness for example), the transfer won’t happen.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
- While Michael will eventually heal from the injury he passed onto him, anything being a consequence of that injury remains. If he took on a stab wound, he will still have to get over the blood loss, if he injures himself, that wound will stay.
- Healing people causes his cells to decay and die, much like a cancer that will originate where he healed the first person. He may be able to regenerate enough cells after one or two small healings, but prolonged use makes the cells die all over his body which can then shut down his system and kill him. He cannot naturally heal from it like he would the injuries he takes from people.
- Since the only way to heal the cell deterioration is to pass it on another living being, his power basically demands that Michael kills in order to survive. Even if he does so on rodents, this still leaves deep emotional and psychological scars.
- The fact his power works on desire and not intent can also have terrible effect on his psyche. His power makes no distinction between wishing something and acting upon it which often makes Michael wonder if he isn't really a monster deep down inside who really wanted to inflict pain on others.♦ THE CHARACTER ♦
HEIGHT: 5'6''
HAIR COLOR: Brown and curly
EYE COLOR: brown
MISC: Michael hates whatever part of his genetic baggage that made him grow body hair. He shaves often to make sure it doesn't show, particularly on his chest. He's a bit of a dandy and would hate to appear disheeveled unless he meant to. Michael has no scars or tattoo and is quite proud of it. He doesn't want to get marks on his body.
PERSONALITY: Michael is that little devil you’d forgive anything to because of how cute he looks. Not evil or cruel per se, he does have an impish nature that enjoys causing mischief to others or say the thing that shouldn’t have been said, all that with a smile. He knows the limit though and would not mention the death of someone’s parents as his goal is not to make them cry but to tease and have some fun out of it. Should someone hurt him however, he could be a little devil and let loose, aiming to hurt the person in return. Michael does have a bit of a big mouth, which got him in trouble before. If he’s quick to say thing, he’s not quick to act. He is also not a fighter. The idea of hurting himself or getting marks on himself terrifies him. Should someone really lose their temper thanks to something he said, he’d either try to make a run for it or beg for mercy and pray they don’t hit the face.
Michael is not as superficial as he pretends to be but he’ll let people think otherwise. He’d likely say that no friend of his could be ugly or poor when in reality it matters little. If he grows an interest on someone, he doesn’t mind their look. He may not defend them though, or walk proudly around them, but he could be there when it matters. In the open, Michael will look as though he only helps when there is a profit for him. You want help with your studies? Sure, if that pretty friend of your joins in too, it’s so much better when we’re a group. You want someone’s opinion about a dress you saw? No problem, and while we’re shopping, why don’t you get us two coffees and pastries? Again, it’s more behind the scenes that Michael will prove that he can help without asking for anything but he usually doesn’t take credit for. It would ruin his image. And his image is important. He values how people perceive him. Perhaps a little too much. He has a clingy nature and a desperate need to be loved or at least appreciated, yet, at the same time, hates that nature, thus the mischievous side coming over and his tendency of making fun of those close to him.
This need for love and appreciation makes him often seek for others to control him. He’s not exactly submissive. If someone suggests an activity and he doesn’t want to do it, he’ll make them change their mind for something else. He has a flair for the dramatic which will often make him test people, by talking to someone a friend hates or openly flirt with someone while already dating another, just so they would be jealous and claim him as theirs. He can be a bit of a drama queen and loves gossips. While he likes it when someone bosses him, he doesn’t respond well to violence or insult and will tend to retaliate if that happens. He can be spiteful when wounded.
SECRET(S): despite loving his parents, Michael hates spending time with them as they are the only ones who can make him feel ashamed of himself to this point. He loves them only from afar.♦ THE HISTORY ♦
Despite the fact Michael’s parents met at Bellefonte, they didn’t start dating until after they both graduated and returned home. The fact there were two mutants from L.A. doesn’t sound all that special but it had been enough for the two to hit off when they met again, when Ryan Miller entered the salon Dorotea Russo worked at for a haircut. After a few months dating, they eventually married each other and had three sons: Matteo (3 years older than Michael), Michael and Martin (2 years younger). Yes, they really loved the letter M. Matteo may have an Italian name like their mother but he took more on their father for both physique and mentality. Michael was more like their mother, which, considering he was a boy, wasn’t all that good, especially to his father. The ladies at the salon always found him so cute, something he often used to get out of trouble.
Michael proved to be ‘different’ pretty early. This cute factor of his was already not something his father liked all that much.He found it too girly and he didn't want any of his boys to have that sort of tendencies. The worst thing was that Michael showed more of those 'tendencies'. His father found him a wimp because he hated doing too much manual labor as he didn't like to sweat. The fact he could get some things done by having others do them for him also wasn't something he was all that proud of. More like ashamed. It actually hurt Michael a lot, but his mother always tried to reassure him and he grew a habit to go straight to her for comfort, advices or favors since the chances to get any of those were much higher from her than the man. As came the age when girls start to become interesting, Michael failed to see that. He felt no desire to kiss them or hold their hands or claim one as his girlfriend. But kissing was getting the thing amongst his friends and he didn’t want to be left behind. Only, he didn’t want to ruin it either by closing his eyes too fast and end up kissing her nose or eye because he had terrible aim. He chose to practice. With a friend. Who turned out to be a guy. Michael actually liked the warmth and softness of the lips but didn’t feel more than this. He didn’t get much the time as his mother caught them and was pretty shaken by it. He had to explain to his parents, who feared what their son was turning into. They grew to accept it was just a practice kiss (they preferred that excuse to the other reason they had in mind) and tried to explain to him that it was normal to be curious but those things shouldn’t be done. They didn’t want any gay in their family. They didn't tell him that, it was something he grew to understand as he later learned about sexuality.
He also learned that he was indeed gay. He was panicked at this. While he loved being with a guy, his heart always beat faster at the thought of it, he was also scared of what it meant. And that his parents may find out. He kept it hidden, like a dirty secret no one should ever know about. With both parents being mutant, the chances for their sons to be were more along that of certainty than possibility. Matteo proved to be one and had already left for Bellefonte. It gave Michael some breathing room actually, having one less brother on his back to tease him and risk finding out about him. A good thing, for he had just got himself a boyfriend and the two loved to send each other texts. They also loved to meet, preferably at his boyfriend’s house. He explained his situation to him, tried to make him understand why no one should know about them. His parents would freak out. What helped was what he had not told his parents either. What didn’t help was the fact they both had little brothers who knew each other. At that time, Michael had broken his foot during a bad fall and only talked to his boyfriend through texts as he was not going out much other than to go to school. Their brothers found the texts in his boyfriend’s phone and planned to tease him in front of his parents. His understood but Michael’s... Angry against his lover, he went to see him and had a fight with him, during which he pushed him. Despite not falling badly, he started crying and screaming. Diagnostic: he had a broken foot. Michael was quite shaken that he caused this. He dared not apologize in person however and his parents confiscated his phone so he never knew really.
Not too long after that, while his parents were trying to find ways to ‘ungay’ him, recruiters came and explained this didn’t happen because he pushed him but because of his power. This didn’t make him feel better of course but the opportunity to run away from his parents was one he didn’t intend to pass on.
At Bellefonte, Michael let himself be who he is, his tendencies and his gay self. He even pushed it a little too far at times. He also took every opportunity he had not to go back home. In reality, it’s because of the awkward atmosphere when he’s home. He always ends up ashamed of who he is and so took the habit of using training his power as an excuse to stay at the school. He chose to go to college for the same reason, since he really has no idea what he’d do of his life. It’s not always fun since Matteo and Martin are there, but it’s better than being at home. At least at school he doesn’t hear about Matteo being the perfect son for being the first to go to college and wishing to become a lawyer and Martin begin better just because he isn’t gay.♦ THE PLAYER ♦
